1st Force Recon

1^st Force Recon is an American Marine company seen in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The company actually existed in real life, and saw engagements in the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Shield, and Operation Desert Storm.

The company was formed on June 19, 1957 at Area 33 (Camp Margarita) of Camp Pendleton in California. In its early years, the company contained an amphib recon platoon, deep recon platoon, and a pathfinder platoon. By 1960 however, the company had six reconnaissance platoons. The company was deployed in August 1965 to the 3rd Marine Division to assist in the Vietnam War. By its assignment, the company became part of the Fleet Marine Force of the Pacific. About a year later, the company was reassigned to the 1st Marine Division. The company fought for much of the Vietnam War until its temporary deactivation on September 30^th 1974.

Exactly twelve years later, the company was reactivated in 1986. Once again, it was assigned under the 1st Marine Division. The company was redesignated (along with the 1st Marine Division) in 1988 from the I Marine Amphibious Force to the I Marine Expeditionary Force. Several years later, it participated in Gulf War in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. Approaching the end of the decade in 1998, the company was once again reassigned, this time to Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group. The company saw little combat in the next eight years, which led to its deactivation in February 2006. Before its deactivation, the company was at full strength with one headquarters and service platoon, two direct action platoons, two deep recon platoons, and one scout sniper platoon.

• By the time of the events of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2011), the 1st Force Recon Company would not have existed, being disbanded in 2006. The Marines should have been labled under the company's replacement, the 1st Marine Special Operation Battalion of the newly formed MARSOC (MARine Corps Forces Special Operations Command). Although they could have been renamed back.
