3rd Person Cage Match
Talk8this wiki
3rd Person Cage Match is largely similar to the Cage Match game mode in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It is, however, played in 3rd Person. Like other third person game types, when aiming through the iron-sights the player does not look through the view in first person, but the cross-hair shrinks to the size of the bullet radius, so for more accurate guns the cross-hair is very small, however on sniper scopes and thermal, the player aims down the scope in first person.
Kills in this game mode are worth 100 XP. The score limit is 20 kills. The match ends when the ten minute time limit is reached.
Third Person Cage Match was removed from the playlist on April 6 for Xbox 360 and May 4 for PS3 and PC, due to it being the least used gametype and because of boosters. It was then replaced by Team Tactical. However, it can still be played on the PS3 format via a glitch.
Trivia
Edit
- Using an ACOG Scope increases the player's zoom when aiming down the sights, but the player is still in 3rd person perspective.
- Aiming down the sights with a sniper or thermal scope allows the player to look through the scope.
- Although Heartbeat Sensors are far less effective in this game mode than others, they can still prove useful; the beeps indicating enemy personnel to the front are still audible, and flanking maneuvers are more difficult for an enemy to execute in third person.
- Riot shields are particularly effective in third person due to no flanking risk and being able to see everything without the riot shield obstructing the view.
- Boosting for head shots on 3rd Person Cage Match was harder than boosting on a normal cage match due to the aim reticles, but this is easily avoided by putting an ACOG scope on the chosen gun.
- Instead of saying "3rd Person Cage Match" the announcer at the beginning says "3rd Person Free-for-All" which is due to "Cage Match" being the name of the playlist and that the Free-for-All game type was chosen for the playlist since there would have been only one person on a team.
