Akimbo
From the Call of Duty Wiki
Akimbo is an attachment that appears in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which allows players to dual wield Pistols, Machine Pistols, the Ranger shotgun, the Model 1887 shotgun, and Sub Machine Guns. When selected, the two weapons can be fired independently with the aim button acting as the trigger for the left weapon. As ADS is disabled, any kind of sight like a red dot sight cannot be used when using Bling as a perk. Both weapons count as a single gun, so when switching to primary weapons, both weapons are holstered. Each weapon can be reloaded independently, allowing the player to stagger their reload time, which can be useful if one weapon is running low on ammo. Using two weapons doubles the supply of stored ammo. Akimbo will also affect the weapons hip-fire accuracy, however how much it affects it will depend on the class of weapon. On sub machine guns the hip-fire accuracy will be roughly twice as worse as normal, but on handguns akimbo will not affect the hip-fire accuracy at all.
[edit] Incompatible attachments when using the Bling or Bling Pro perk.
- All Sights (Red Dot, Holographic, ACOG, Thermal)
- Tactical Knife
[edit] Trivia
- Using Steady Aim on any Akimbo weapon (excluding the Ranger) can help negate the inaccuracy that comes with Akimbo.
- Akimbo is a human body position in which the hands are on the hips and the elbows are bowed outward, or bent/bowed in a more general sense, which is ironic, as in Third Person, players with Akimbo weapons have their arms pointed directly straight forward.
- Somehow the player is still able to melee while using Akimbo.
- If you melee while using Akimbo it will show you knife with 2 left arms (easily seen in the Game Winning Kill)
- Although in multiplayer it is impossible, akimbo red dot sight TMPs can be found in certain singleplayer missions.
- If you can manage using a Red Dot Sight or Holographic Sight during an EMP burst, you should be able to handle Akimbo weapons easily, as both fire wherever the center of the screen is, but have no dot indicating where this center is.
