The Bootlegger (referred to as the Sten in the game files) is a Submachine Gun appearing in Call of Duty: Black Ops III in the Zombies map Shadows of Evil. It is available from the Mystery Box for 950 points and as a wall weapon for 2000 points, located inside the Tram. The Bootlegger can also be found in purple Harvest Pods. Its advantages are that it has high damage, a somewhat fast reload speed, low recoil and a decent magazine capacity. Its disadvantages are that its reserve ammo capacity is relatively low, its rate of fire is low, and that it has a high price.

Overall, its high price, its statistics as a whole, and the fact that it cannot be customized in Weapon Kits combined with the fact that it does not come with any attachments by default to make up for this could make it a poor choice of a weapon to some players when bought off the wall, but when received from the Mystery Box or for free from a Harvest Pod it may be viewed as a decent weapon to end up with.

When upgraded via the Pack-a-Punch Machine, it becomes the Ein Sten, receives a larger magazine capacity, has increased damage, and gains a new look.

TriviaEdit

  • The Pack-a-Punch name is a play on names of the popular physicist Albert Einstein and the Sten.
  • The name of the weapon is a reference the Prohibition Era of the United States, where bootleggers were criminals who smuggled liquor.
