CH-46 Sea Knight
From the Call of Duty Wiki
The CH-46 Sea Knight is a medium-lift transport helicopter with tandem rotors, seen in the game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It can be seen while playing as the British SAS and Marine Force Recon. The British helicopter's call sign is Big Bird, while it's American counterpart is Outlaw Two-Five. They are generally used for extraction. They can be mounted with a .50 cal machine gun on each side. The CH-46 is due to be replaced by the MV-22 Osprey in 2011, which is when Call of Duty 4 takes place, however the USMC has not begun the transition process by the time of the game's events. The CH-46 Sea Knight has two 5000hp engines providing the lift to carry heavy loads such as a truck or a humvee at reasonable speeds.
In real life the Sea knight is used by the marines to provide all-weather, day-or-night assault transport of combat troops, supplies and equipment.
[edit] Trivia
- The Sea Knight can carry up to 25 troops but in the game it appears the most it can carry is 4-10 people.
- The callsign of the of the SAS helicopter, Big Bird, Phrog is the same callsign used as the Sea Knight that extracted Captain MacMillan and (then Lieutenant) Captain Price in One Shot, One Kill. This could be the same chopper, or it could be a basic code name.
