[edit] Story Mode

Call of Duty: United Offensive puts the player in the role Cpl. Scott Riley in the American campaign, Sgt. James Doyle in the British campaign and Pvt. Yuri Petrenko in the Russian campaign. The characters fight in famous battles in World War II such as the Battle of the Bulge, the invasion of Sicily and the Battle of Kursk.

The player has new abilities in the gameplay such as being able to fight in a bombing mission with mounted M2 Browning machine guns, deploying light machine guns, using flamethrowers in combat, cooking grenades, and sprinting.

[edit] Multiplayer

The biggest changes in Call of Duty: United Offensive are in the game's multiplayer mode. There are many more maps which are much larger than the ones in the original game, new weapons from the single player campaign including cookable grenades, the ability to sprint, letting the player move faster temporarily but being unable to attack while doing so, an in-game ranking system which grants the player new bonuses with more points, and the ability to drive vehicles such as tanks and jeeps during battle.

There are also new multiplayer modes: Domination, Capture the Flag and Base Assault.

[edit] Ranks

Call of Duty: United Offensive has a ranking score in which players gain additional abilities as their score increases.

  • Private: None
  • Rifleman: Additional hand grenades and pistol ammo.
  • Squad Leader: Scouting binoculars.
  • Section Sergeant: Satchel charges. (Lower ranks can also use satchel charges, but they have to be picked up.)
  • Platoon Sergeant: Artillery strike.

Also, there are now other ways to gain points than killing enemies. These include destroying objectives, protecting objectives, capturing flags, protecting flags, and assisting friendly flag carriers. The in-game ranks are reset on each map and not persistent.

[edit] Trivia

  • In one of the American missions, the player clears out barns with a squad of about 5 soldiers. The only two who can be killed are Pvt. Gordon and Pvt. Freeman, a reference to the Half-Life series.
  • Ramirez is misspelled "Ramires" from time to time when referring to the same character.
