- "This single device has more processing power than your entire military infrastructure."
- — Erik Breighner, talking about Celerium
Celerium is a Rare Earth Element, featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops II and in Call of Duty: Heroes as a currency resource.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II[]
Celerium means "of the swift ones" in Latin, referring to the fact that a device using Celerium processes data "faster" than any other known system due to utilizing quantum entanglement. Raul Menendez uses the Celerium to launch a major cyber attack on the American satellite systems through the USS Barack Obama. Only Karma is capable of removing the virus. If she is not rescued in Karma or Second Chance, or dies in Odysseus, she will be replaced by the CIA Nerd, who cannot crack the virus. Thus, if Menendez was also spared by the player in Judgement Day, he will escape from his prison cell to finally complete his revenge.

Celerium appeared in Call of Duty: Heroes as premium currency used for buying things in-game, such as structures, shields for the player's base, etc
It could also be earned by accessing landing pads and merchants with them.
As of update 1.7.4, the player was able to get free celerium by watching an ad, up to two per day. Each video gave five celerium, for a total of ten per day.
