Counter-UAV is a multiplayer killstreak reward in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. After achieving a killstreak of 4 (killing 4 enemies in a row without dying), the player can call in a Counter-UAV drone, which will turn all hostile minimaps to static, much like the Scrambler perk but with a more immediate effect. It also scrambles the maps for marking airstrikes. The Counter-UAV is a Predator Drone identical in appearance to the UAV, and can thus be destroyed. Once activated, any UAVs summoned after will not show on screen until the Counter-UAV killstreak is over. Calling in 50 Counter-UAVs will reward you with a rotating Counter-UAV emblem. This killstreak reward is very useful if you are surrounded by enemy players or playing intense games as they cannot see you on their minimaps but you can see them and have a great advantage. Additionally, Counter-UAV blinds enemies to their teammates' positions which makes it harder to coordinate attacks or to know if footsteps sounds are friend or foe.

The killstreak is less useful in Hardcore game modes where players rely less on UAV radars which are only available if the team has an active UAV. Thus the killstreak will only have any effect in those cases, rather than at any time in regular game modes.

The Counter-UAV killstreak is not available for choice by default and must be unlocked through leveling.

• The Counter-UAV plane has the exact same appearance as the normal UAV plane, except the Counter UAV plane has a different number on the side (visible through a sniper scope) and flies at a slightly higher altitude.
• Sometimes a Stinger missile won't destroy a Counter-UAV plane, but instead after being hit it will fly away. This doesn't count towards the Cold-Blooded Pro challenges. This is because the time the drone has spent on the map has already been used.
• Destroying a Counter-UAV plane will show the message on all players screens "Restored UAV".
• If you don't have a rocket launcher, you can still shoot the Counter-UAV plane and it will take damage.
