Cryptid Slayer Ammo is an ammo type in Call of Duty: Ghosts in Extinction mode. It is available via the armory for 500 Teeth to players who have purchased the Nemesis DLC. When bought, the player will be granted a special ammo which is a cross of all of the other ammo types, thus making it more powerful than any other. This power boost comes at a cost of $2000 per box. It possesses the damage traits of Stun Ammo, Incendiary Ammo, Explosive Ammo, and Armor Piercing Ammo, and possess the quantity traits of standard ammo. Also, like the standard Ammo, it costs two skill points to upgrade to +4. Also note once a player has cryptid slayer ammo loaded into their weapons, they have the chance to find it in Search Piles.

If the user has purchased other ammunition upgrades, such as Arcing Stun, Higher Quality Incendiary and High Grade Armour Piercing, they will be combined to add more lethality to the Cryptid Slayer Ammo.

It should be noted that, if the Arcing Stun activates, nearby Cryptids will also be subject to the same after-hit effects, such as being set on fire and being hit by a little explosion. This makes Arcing Stun extremely lethal in tandem with the Cryptid Slayer Ammo, being able to severely weaken multiple Cryptids over time, and with stronger bullet-based weapons like Sniper Rifles and Shotguns, the potential of getting multiple kills with a single shot increases dramatically. Because of this, players using Cryptid Slayer Ammo should try to target groups of Cryptids that are bunched together whenever possible to maximize the effect of each fired bullet.

If available, Cryptid Slayer Ammo, despite its high cost, is the preferred ammo type in Extinction to use due to its sheer power and utility, seeing how it has the effects of all other ammo types, plus providing more ammo per drop like standard ammo. It can give a much needed boost in power and survivability to a squad. However, the very high cost per box makes Cryptid Slayer Ammo not ideal for those using the Limited Ammo Relic. Because of the high cost of Cryptid Slayer Ammo, combined with Limited Ammo nullifying the benefit of Cryptid Slayer Ammo dropping more ammo per drop, some may not consider it ideal for use in solo play, and players might be better off just not using Limited Ammo, or if they do wish to use Limited Ammo, use a different, much less expensive ammo type. For those who have Limited Ammo active, they can take advantage of the 3rd and 4th level upgrades, which will still top up the user's magazine and passively regenerate reserve ammo even with Limited Ammo active, as ways to compensate for the reduced amount of ammo received due to the relic.

Cryptid Slayer Ammo is known to interfere with the completion of map easter eggs that require specific objects to be shot. Much like with the ARK, the Cryptid Slayer Ammo usually needs to be removed in some way in order for a weapon to be eligible to trigger these easter eggs.

Cryptid Slayer Ammo, by default, cannot be found in Search Piles. However, it is possible for players who already have Cryptid Slayer Ammo loaded into their weapons to force the Search Pile to give Cryptid Slayer Ammo in the same way it gives a small amount of any other special ammo. If the user's weapon they are actively holding while interacting with a Search Pile has Cryptid Slayer Ammo loaded into their weapon, the Search Pile cannot give any special ammo type other than Cryptid Slayer Ammo. This does not prevent the Search Pile from giving other types of contents, but it does prevent the Search Pile from giving a conflicting, suboptimal ammo type.
