In Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Desert Camouflage is available on any weapon as one of the default camouflages. It can only be used in online multiplayer. Desert camouflage can help blend in on maps like Strike, Bog, Backlot, Crash, Crossfire, Ambush and Showdown.

The Desert Camouflage in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is unlocked at default as well as the previous installment. This will be automatically unlocked along with the Arctic scheme for all primary weapons. This camouflage is superior on desert levels such as Afghan, Rust, Strike, and Crash. However, gun camouflage usually has little help in disguising the weapon's user, as camouflage is usually a sign of rank. It is a very effective camouflage for almost all maps, aside from arctic maps and darker colored maps, such as Estate, Wasteland, etc. The pattern itself was first featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 as some members of Task Force 141 wore Desert gear: most notably Captain Price and by Rook (in "The Enemy of My Enemy" and in "Just Like Old Times").
Trivia
Edit
- On the Wii version, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex Edition, it looks more like a monochrome beige than the proper camouflage.
- When using Desert camouflage on the F2000, or the Intervention in a sunny map like Scrapyard, it resembles a golden pattern.
- In Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the camouflage has a resemblance to the three-color desert camouflage except there is no green.
