Campaign Map
"Black Tuesday"

Downturn is a multiplayer map in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. It is a large map set on Wall Street, in New York City and is based off the campaign mission "Black Tuesday".

OverviewEdit

Downturn is a large sized map. The two main spawns are on either side of the map. There are many streets, but most of the surface is destroyed, caving into the subways below. The underground areas connect to cover much of the map, but can be open to air support in the caved in areas. There are many buildings around the map that can be accessed and climbed on, much of them have broken down walls and much debris on the interior.

Survival ModeEdit

In Survival Mode, Downturn is a Tier 4 map and has the difficulty of Insane. The player starts with the M16A4 with Red Dot Sight, the Five Seven, and 250 Armor, but no Self Revive, Flash Grenades, or Frag Grenades. The players start outside on the east side of the map. The hostiles include Bomb Squads, Chemical Agents, Claymore Experts, Choppers, and Armored Juggernauts.

The Weapons Armory is in the building south of start, the Equipment Armory is in the building on the northwest side of the map, and the Air Support Armory is in the southwest side at the top of the stairs of the central building.

TriviaEdit

  • Shooting a fire extinguisher on this map will burst it up in a stream of water, but it will not damage the player.
  • On the west side of the map, sirens similar to those from "Exodus" can be heard.
  • There is an obliterated Burger Town outside the eastern side of the map, at the end of the street.
  • Near the southeast of the map, there is an annihilated building with undamaged sofas inside and two partially working TVs, also a fully functional computer, despite the building being destroyed.
  • The Freedom Tower can be seen in the background.
  • On the Wii version, the light posts are absent.
