Escort Airdrop is an 18-point Support Strike Chain that appears in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
The Escort Airdrop is called in with a marker grenade, just like a Care Package. A V-22 Osprey will arrive at the location marked by the grenade and hover over it before it begins to drop four Care Package crates and one Airdrop Trap. Occasionally the Airdrop Trap will be substituted for a 5th Care Package. Contrary to popular belief, the Care Package crates will contain both Support Strike Package pointstreaks and Assault Strike Package pointstreaks, however the former are much more common.
The Osprey will continue to hover over the marked area and will shoot enemies who enter its firing range until about 15 seconds elapse or it is shot down. It is important to remember that the Osprey will hover for a while before dropping the crates, so protecting the area from enemies for a period of time needs to be taken into consideration. The Osprey can be shot down before it drops any crates. The Osprey has two sets of flares it can activate before getting shot down. It takes three shots with a Stinger to shoot the Osprey down. Two rockets must be used to deplete the flares, while the third rocket will take the Osprey down.
