For the Stryker, see Honey Badger (callsign).

The Honey Badger is an assault rifle that appears in Call of Duty: Ghosts, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, Call of Duty Online, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. It has an integrated suppressor in most of its appearances.

Call of Duty: Ghosts[]

"Fully automatic. Integrated Silencer keeps your shots off the radar."
— Description

Campaign[]

The Honey Badger is seen throughout the campaign used by Logan Walker and Hesh. It is also used in "End of the Line" by Thomas Merrick and Keegan because of its integrated silencer. It is used by the Federation only in "The Hunted".

Curiously, despite being the signature and iconic weapon of the Ghosts, it is only usable in five missions: "Brave New World", "No Man's Land", "The Hunted", "End of the Line", and "All or Nothing". In later levels, it is replaced by the K7 submachine gun.

Multiplayer[]

The Honey Badger is a costly weapon, demanding nine Squad Points to unlock it. However, it can be unlocked by default if using the Stealth package.

At any range before nineteen meters, the Honey Badger will deal 42 damage per bullet, resulting in a three shot kill, or a two shot kill if both shots hit the head. Damage decreases linearly afterwards until 33 meters, where the Honey Badger deals twenty damage per bullet, requiring a five shot kill (headshots will not result in a four shot kill), or a two shot kill in Hardcore game modes. The Honey Badger has a three shot kill range of 24 meters, and a four shot kill range of 29 meters. In Hardcore, the Honey Badger has a one shot kill range of roughly 26 meters. The Honey Badger has medium penetration power.

The Honey Badger fires fully automatically, with a fire rate of 800 RPM.

The Honey Badger has recoil values of 58 to the left, 58 to the right, 63 upwards, and 58 downwards. The Honey Badger has a centerspeed value of 1600. The Honey Badger's recoil is 30% smaller on the first shot in a burst. The Honey Badger has moderate idle sway, and it is tied with the MSBS for the fastest idle sway speed on any assault rifle.

The Honey Badger allows users to move at ninety percent of the base speed, or strafe at 36% of the base movement speed. The Honey Badger allows users to aim down the sights in 300 milliseconds, and the hip-fire spread is average. The Honey Badger's reload animation is 2.63 seconds long, or 3.16 seconds long for an empty magazine. The user can Reload Cancel the Honey Badger after 1.53 seconds.

The Honey Badger has a default magazine capacity of thirty rounds, and a default starting ammo loadout of ninety rounds.

The Honey Badger's defining characteristic is its integrated Silencer. This is a free attachment that cannot be removed, and as such, doesn't take up an attachment slot in Create-A-Soldier. This also means that the Honey Badger cannot equip any barrel attachments. All available attachments function as expected on the Honey Badger.

Extinction[]

As of the update for Nemesis, the Honey Badger is only available on Chaos Mode for Point of Contact and Mayday. In solo and multiplayer for both of those maps, it was replaced entirely by the AK-12 and the ARX-160.

The Honey Badger previously appeared in solo play and multiplayer Extinction, on the maps Point of Contact and Mayday for $2000. In Point of Contact, it was located in the barn, in the cabin area. In Mayday, it was on the catwalk with the tentacle.

The Honey Badger featured a 35 round magazine and one of the fastest rate of fires of any assault rifle in Extinction, with moderate accuracy and moderate reload speed to boot. However, it provided slightly less reserve ammo than the smaller-magazined SA-805. The Honey Badger also suffered from a short range and poor ranged damage, which could not be mitigated by equipping a Muzzle Brake.

In Point of Contact, the Honey Badger was very unpopular to use, as it was located in a very inconvenient area, in addition to being accessible very late into the map, with the player having already passed by two fully automatic assault rifles well before accessing the Honey Badger. Even if players acknowledged where it was and even if players liked the Honey Badger, said players usually had assault rifles already. This made the Honey Badger have poor ranged performance relative to other assault rifles, and that can come into play quite commonly at this stage of the map.

On Mayday, the Honey Badger proved to be a much more popular choice due to the reduced selection of longer ranged weaponry on the map, especially those that were available early on. The Honey Badger was the only assault rifle available until the ARX-160 was provided later on in the map. The closer confines of Mayday made the Honey Badger's range shortcoming much less relevant, and the Honey Badger's higher rate of fire proved to be useful.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered[]

The Honey Badger appears in Modern Warfare Remastered as the Lynx CQ300. It was added in the August 8th, 2017 update, and this time the silencer is not an integrated attachment, but an optional one.

The Lynx CQ300 kills in 3-5 shots depending on range. Even though head shot multipliers are lower than most other assault rifles, head shots still generally reduce the number of bullets needed to kill by one. Equipping Stopping Power reduces this to 2-4 shots, making the weapon superior to most assault rifles within effective range. Range, however, is shorter than average for assault rifles. Adding a Silencer exacerbates this weakness. While the Lynx CQ300 has low long-range damage, it's still relatively easy to score hits due to its low recoil.

Although the range is shorter, it has no idle sway even when the ACOG Scope is attached. Aiming the ACOG Scope also takes up less of the screen than other weapons, giving the Lynx CQ300 some accuracy advantage; using the ACOG Scope however will also slow down the aim down sight speed like other assault rifles and SMGs.

The weapon shares reserve ammunition with the AK-47 and the XM-LAR.

Call of Duty Online[]

The weapon appears in Call of Duty Online as the AAC.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II & Modern Warfare III[]

"With an integrated suppressor and slow, high-energy subsonic .300 BLK rounds, the Chimera is adept at close-quarters combat."
— In-game description

The Honey Badger returns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II as the Chimera.

The Chimera is also available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III as part of the Modern Warfare II content carryover.

Overview[]

Campaign[]

The Chimera appears as the player's only weapon during the mission "Strike", where Simon "Ghost" Riley is the playable character. It sports a unique black finish that also features the Union Jack on the side of the gun below the rear sights, and it is equipped with the 10" SA Phoenix unsuppressed barrel and the Ravage-8 stock. Ghost can also be seen using the Chimera in this configuration in "Cartel Protection", "Close Air", "Prison Break" (opening cutscene), and "Ghost Team", whereas in "Kill or Capture" he uses one with the standard tan finish, integral suppressor, and stock.

In the Modern Warfare III campaign, the Chimera is not available to the player. Nevertheless, Ghost continues to use it in both configurations. In addition, the black version is sometimes carried by Farah Karim, and the standard suppressed version is used by SFOs in the final mission "Trojan Horse".

Multiplayer[]

The Chimera was added on December 14th, 2022 as part of the Modern Warfare II Season One Reloaded update. It can be unlocked for free by earning two kills with an assault rifle in fifteen different multiplayer matches or by extracting the weapon from Building 21 in DMZ.

Zombies[]

In Modern Warfare III, the Chimera can be brought into Operation Deadbolt via Create-A-Class, at Common rarity and can be found at any rarity via the Mystery Box for 950 Essence. When upgraded via the Pack-a-Punch Machine or with Aetherium Crystals, it becomes the Dead Wish.
