The Royal Italian Army were the land forces of the Kingdom of Italy, and fought as one of the Axis Powers during World War II. They are an enemy faction in Call of Duty 2: Big Red One. The appear in the cutscenes of Call of Duty: Finest Hour and Call of Duty 2. They are a playable by uniform in the multiplayer in Call of Duty: WWII.

Call of Duty: Finest Hour[]

While they do not appear physically in the game, posters for them are seen on the maps The Vault and The Village and it's soldiers are mentioned and seen in the cutscene for the North African Campaign.

Call of Duty 2[]

They don't appear physically in the game but it's tanks are seen in he cutscene for the North African Campaign.

Call of Duty 2: Big Red One[]

The Royal Italian Army and Airforce first appear in the level Tankers. They were desert uniforms and use whatever they can to destroy the players tank. They are seen fighting with German and Italian equipment with the majority of there armaments, including nearly all of there vehicles, are German. They reappear in the level Operation Husky (This time fighting alone) and there last appearance is in Piano Lupo (fighting along side the Hermann Goering panzer division). They are very similar to the Germans in terms of fighting style but with one noticeable exception, they throw grenades far more frequently than the Germans. They are playable in the Multiplayer on the maps Bizerte, Gela and Troina and Royal Italian tanks appear on the maps Kasserine and Cassino. There equipment is similar to the Germans but some weapons are replaced by Italian ones. Some propaganda for the Royal Italian Army can be seen in the streets in the level Farewell to Friends and it's soldiers are seen in the cutscenes.

Call of Duty: WWII[]

The Royal Italian Army is playable by uniform by choosing the Airborne Division and playing as the Axis Powers. The player will take the appearance of an Italian Paratrooper. This does not affect gameplay, it is purely cosmetic. There are three variations: Axis Paratrooper, Valkyrie Paratrooper and Axis Flieger.
