The M27, referred to within game files as the HK416, is an assault rifle featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops II and can be used in Call of Duty: Black Ops III using console commands. The M27 is also seen in the intro cutscene for the zombies map Classified in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II[]

"Fully automatic assault rifle. Reduced recoil provides higher accuracy."
Create-A-Class Description.

Campaign[]

The M27 is an assault rifle that is particularly common in the campaign. It is the third most common assault rifle used by JSOC and the Navy SEALS behind the SCAR-H and the M8A1. Some Mercs are also seen using it in the mission "Odysseus". The M27 is the primary weapon in the recommended loadout for the mission "Celerium". Javier Salazar and Mike Harper use it in the missions "Karma" and "Odysseus".

Multiplayer[]

The M27 is the fifth weapon in the assault rifle category, and is unlocked at Level 31, alongside the Executioner.

At any range short of forty meters, the M27 will deal 33 damage per bullet, needing four shots to kill. At any range past forty meters, the M27 will deal 24 damage per bullet, needing five shots to kill, or two in hardcore game types. The M27 deals twenty percent extra damage per shot on a headshot. A headshot or even the slightest bit of chip damage dealt to the opponent will reduce the number of shots needed to kill by one at all ranges. The M27 has medium penetration power.

The M27 fires fully automatically, and fires at a rate of 750 RPM.

The M27 has recoil values of 35 to the left, 35 to the right, 35 downwards, and 50 upwards. The M27 has a centerspeed value of 1550. If the M27 is being fired in burst fire configuration via Select Fire, the M27's centerspeed value increases to 1650.

The M27 allows users to move at 95% of the base movement speed, or strafe at 40% of the base movement speed. The M27 aims down the sight in 250 milliseconds, and the M27's hip-fire accuracy is decent. The M27's reload animation is 2.03 seconds long, or 2.8 seconds long if the magazine is empty. The user can Reload Cancel in 1.4 seconds.

The M27 has a thirty round magazine and a 120 round starting ammo loadout, both standard for an assault rifle.

The M27 has the usual assortment of attachments on offer. All attachments work as expected on the M27.

As of the January 26's patch, all assault rifles have reduced idle sway. The four-hit-kill range has been extended from 37.5 meters to 40 meters. The headshot multiplier has also been increased, allowing fewer shots to kill at longer ranges.

Zombies[]

The M27 is only available in Nuketown Zombies and can be acquired from the Mystery Box for 950 points. It is a decent gun even without being Pack-a-Punched, as it has adequate reserve ammo and low recoil. The M27 can be proven quite useful and lasts up to later rounds as long as players can conserve ammo and go for headshots.

When Pack-a-Punched via the Pack-a-Punch Machine, it becomes the Mystifier. Its reserve ammo and damage are increased and a Reflex Sight is added. It can be Pack-a-Punched multiple times for 2000 points to cycle through attachments, including the Reflex Sight, MMS, Target Finder and EOTech Sight and no attachments.

In the game mode Turned, it's the third weapon to be obtained if the player is a human.

The subject matter of this article was cut from the final version of a Call of Duty game. Since some information cannot be independently verified, the content on this page may be subject to change.

The M27 was cut from Call of Duty: Black Ops III, with evidence of its existence found in the game files.

The weapon model is seen in-game, however. During the campaign mission Lotus Towers, a crate of M27s can be seen, but the player is unable to use them. The M27 can also be seen on the left screen of the Data Vault, alongside the VMP and Sheiva. Additionally, it can be seen in the armory section of the multiplayer map Rift.

In Der Eisendrache and Zetsubou No Shima, it is possible to obtain the M27 using console commands on PC, reusing the same stats as it did in Black Ops II. The Mystifier is also available through console commands, again reusing its Black Ops II stats.

Trivia[]

Call of Duty: Black Ops II[]

  • If the player selects the M27 as their primary weapon, the character pulls the charging handle twice. A round can be seen ejecting from the chamber on the second pull but the ammo count will not go down.
    • If the player is using the Fast Hands perk, no round will be ejected during the animation.
  • The M27 has a unique foregrip when the Grip is attached. It is rubberized, longer than regular foregrips, and has an unusable flashlight attached to it.
  • When empty reloading, the cut-off word "odFISH" can be seen with a jellyfish on the charging handle.
  • On the left of the rear iron sight, the words 'Rusty Slums Arms' are visible. This is most easily seen while reloading.
  • The M27's serial number is "JW420975".
  • In the 'Domination Master' calling card, the shark can be seen wielding the M27 with the Grenade Launcher attached.
  • While sprinting, the M27 does not have an animation for switching from burst to automatic, but does have one for automatic to burst.
  • The M27 was to appear in TranZit, but was cut for unknown reasons. This is proven from a cut quote from Misty.
