- For the level in Call of Duty based on the house, see Pavlov's House (level).
Pavlov's House (Russian: дом Павлова) was a well-defended building located in the city of Stalingrad. It was held by Russian troops against the Wehrmacht during World War II. Pavlov's House was first featured in the original Call of Duty.
History[]
Pavlov's House was attacked and was taken by German "Heer" Army soldiers in September 1942. A platoon of the Soviet 13th Guards Rifle Division was ordered to take the building and defend it. The platoon was commanded by Sergeant Yakov Pavlov who was a junior commander replacing his wounded superior. The platoon completed the mission successfully, but suffered heavy casualties. Only four men survived the combat and continued to defend Pavlov's House on their own.
The Building[]
Pavlov's House was a four story building (six stories in the game) in the city of Stalingrad and was built parallel to the embankment of the river Volga which also had a view of a large square called "9th January Square" named for Bloody Sunday. This offered it excellent opportunities for artillery spotting and observation.
Trivia[]
- The FW200 Condors seen in this level have their gears down, this was probably made to save memory.
