For other variants, see AUG (rifle), AUG (submachine gun) and AUG A3.
For a weapon with a similar name, see HBRa3.

The AUG HBAR is a bullpup light machine gun featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty Online, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. It was cut from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2[]

Campaign[]

The AUG HBAR can often be found throughout the campaign, most often dropped by Ultranationalists or found in their various armories (such as in "The Gulag"). The weapon always comes with optics in the campaign, be it the Swarovski Scope or a Red Dot Sight.

The Swarovski scope uses the standard sniper scope reticle but has far less zoom than that of a sniper rifle, instead having the magnification level of an ACOG Scope.

Multiplayer[]

In Multiplayer, the AUG HBAR is unlocked at Level 32.

The AUG HBAR deals forty damage at all distances, scoring a three shot kill, or a two shot kill if a headshot is scored. The AUG HBAR also has high penetration power. With Stopping Power equipped, the AUG HBAR deals 56 damage at all distances, scoring a two shot kill, and deals 78 damage per headshot. With a Silencer equipped, the AUG HBAR deals thirty damage per bullet, needing four shots to kill. Using Stopping Power with a Silencer will cause the AUG HBAR to deal 42 damage per bullet for a three shot kill, or two shots if a headshot is scored. A headshot with a silenced AUG HBAR deals 58 damage, with a single headshot guaranteeing a two shot kill.

The AUG HBAR fires fully automatically, with a fire rate of 689 RPM.

The AUG HBAR has recoil values of 65 to the left, 65 to the right, 60 upwards, and 30 downwards. The AUG HBAR has a centerspeed value of 1500.

The AUG HBAR restricts users to 87.5% of the base movement speed, or a strafe speed of 35%. The AUG HBAR allows users to aim down the sights in 350 milliseconds, and the AUG HBAR's hip-fire spread is large. The AUG HBAR's reload animation is 3.3 seconds long, or four seconds long if the magazine is completely empty. In either case, the user can Reload Cancel the AUG HBAR after 2.4 seconds.

The AUG HBAR has a default magazine capacity of 42 rounds, and a default starting ammo loadout of 126 rounds.

The AUG HBAR has the standard assortment of LMG attachments to choose from. Most attachments function as expected on the AUG HBAR, with a couple of exceptions. Most notably, Extended Mags does not double the AUG HBAR's magazine capacity like it does with other LMGs, instead simply offering a 50% increase in magazine capacity. The Grip has an unusual effect on the AUG HBAR in that it will allow the user to pick up an AUG HBAR more quickly off of the ground if that AUG HBAR has a Grip equipped. Lastly, the Thermal Scope will slow down the AUG HBAR's aim down sight time to 400 milliseconds, whereas the aim down sight time is not modified when using the Thermal Scope on any other LMG.

The subject matter of this article was cut from the final version of a Call of Duty game. Since some information cannot be independently verified, the content on this page may be subject to change.

The AUG HBAR was going to be featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, but was cut before the games release. Some of its files remain in the game. It was partially implemented, then scrapped during middle development. However, it can still be used in multiplayer when using console commands and file editing. The weapon will appear with all of it's Modern Warfare 2 attachments equipped at the same time, using the Fall camo. It re-uses animations from the M60E4, and uses the suppressed firing sound, reload sounds, and stats from the M60E4 as well.

Call of Duty Online[]

The AUG HBAR returns in Call of Duty: Online as the Steyr AUG-H.

Trivia[]

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2[]

AUG HBAR Scoped L85

AUG HBAR Scoped with L86 HUD icon, seen in Cliffhanger trailer.

  • The AUG HBAR's Arctic Camouflage varies greatly from singleplayer to multiplayer. The campaign variant is completely white whereas the multiplayer version is only partially camouflaged.
  • When holding the AUG without the Grip attachment, the player's thumb is not touching the gun, instead it just floats noticeably to the left of the barrel, seeming that the gun was scripted to always be used with the Grip like in the campaign.
  • The pickup icon on the AUG HBAR in multiplayer displays a Swarovski Scope, a grip and lacks the bipod.
  • At early stages, AUG HBAR Scoped used the L86 LSW HUD icon as a placeholder.
  • When the Swarovski Scope is mounted on the AUG HBAR, the front sight is still present on the gun.
  • On the side of the AUG HBAR's scope, it says "Steyr-1228".
  • The AUG HBAR only has a front sight.
