Recently, I have been creating and categorising images and pages. Custodian rights have helped tremendously with this, as these rights have allowed me to delete unused and unneeded cats. But with all this, I have come across multiple categories that need to be renamed, or the name itself has a spelling mistake. Currently, there are only a couple Custodians and Admins that work on categories. Because Admins can only rename cats, Custodians that find them when admins aren't on usually have to delete the cat and create a new one with the correct name, and re-categorise all the articles/images with the new category. This comes off as a massive hassle for Custodians and could clog the RC. To fix this, I'm suggesting we allow Custodians to rename categories could remove the hassle of deleting them, creating a new category and replacing them. In my personal opinion, Custodians are already able to rename images, delete them and categories. Allowing us to rename them would just be a small addition to a Custodians set of tools. Capt. It's not possible to rename categories at all. Even admins can't do it.

- I'm positive that I've seen some admins rename cats. Why isn't it possible? Capt. Miller · talk 06:40, May 28, 2014 (UTC)
- Likely maintenance issues. Categories function differently to pages and files, renaming them may cause issues. It's never been possible to rename them. 06:41, May 28, 2014 (UTC)
- I understand. But is there something similar that we could add that could allow us to do something similar? Capt. Miller · talk 06:49, May 28, 2014 (UTC)

I am honesty sorry about bringing up a forum about something that can't be done. So, the only thing to do right now is to close it? Capt. Miller · talk 07:04, May 28, 2014 (UTC)
