COD wiki page on wikipedia

I think in order to increase popularity and membership of the call of duty wiki, we should make our own page on wikipedia. Now hear me out. This wiki is now the single largest database of all things call of duty, but some people still dont know this website exists. It would bolster popularity, and increase membership, not to mention more people discovering call of duty with the upcoming release of Modern Warfare 3. Wikipedia is, obviously, alot more popular than the call of duty wiki, and more interest in this wiki is always good, possibly even gaining experienced editors from wikipedia who are interested in cod to begin editing here. This is purely an idea, which i think would benefit the wiki. —Unsigned comment was added by 2.96.28.68
I'm pretty sure we're not allowed to do this. We can link back here from relevant pages, but we don't get a page of our own. Raven's wing Talk12:02, July 29, 2011 (UTC)
This website is linked to on most CoD articles on Wikipedia. I think that's how I found this website in the first place. We aren't allowed to make an article.

The wiki was created as, and still is, a Wikia subdomain. Unlike WoWWiki, who were originally a seperate website before being purchased by Wikia, we are not and so would not qualify for an article. Smuffin[citation provided] 12:17, July 29, 2011 (UTC)
OK Sorry just trying to make a reccomendation. —Unsigned comment was added by 92.18.65.122
- It's not a bad idea. It's just we are not allowed to do it. -- -- mr_expert talk 11:15, July 31, 2011 (UTC)
- If I'm honest it's a great idea and I'm sure there are some Wikipedia-style sites that'll let us do this, just not exactly Wikipedia itself. The fact we're on the Top 10 most visited Wikias already means we're very popular. If there IS a Wikia page, then I'm sure we would be able to find a place on that article to boost our traffic, but the only problem being the fact we'll get more vandals. And IMO anon, you should get an account. This idea was genius, if only there's a way to get it working.

Closed - We can't do this. Not only are we a sub-domain of Wikia, but creating such a Wikipedia page only for advertising purposes is not something that is welcome at Wikipedia (and rightfully so). ![]()
