Hello. I would like to propose a subgroup layout for the navigation box templates to be created. An example of a subgroup can be found here, as I can expect most of you are familiar with such; and can simply add a more definite layout for the navbox templates like the DLC template (can replace subheadings such as "Map packs" and "Personalization packs"). All it requires is the following coding for its own template and just a bump of coding on the said templates (DLC). NinjaFatGuy (talk) 18:51, May 9, 2014 (UTC)

This could be useful. -- laagone (talk)  18:59, May 9, 2014 (UTC)

Not a bad idea, I think it would be extremely useful. However, which templates did you have in mind, besides the DLC? http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/276/1/2/bionicle__unity_duty_destiny_by_cyberpictures-d6p3li2.pngLegos-Rule-15 Talk 23:53, May 9, 2014 (UTC)

Just any navbox that uses an excessive use of those subheadings, or any at all; such as Zombies mode nav. NinjaFatGuy (talk) 00:41, May 10, 2014 (UTC)

It would be nice to see some kind of mock up before we move anything forward.

Given a lot of our template code is in the .css, I think we should have a mock up first as this code may not function correctly. 17:00, May 12, 2014 (UTC)

Hmm, in my opinion it makes the content look more squashed. If we use it on something like the Zombies template it's going to make it even longer than it currently is. 01:18, May 13, 2014 (UTC)

seems good to me. RisingSun2013 21:03, May 10, 2014 (UTC)

I don't think it looks any more cluttered or confusing than it was before, so I'm game. Joe Copp 15:56, May 13, 2014 (UTC)

Looking at MLGs example it looks more cluttered and squished. 16:25, May 13, 2014 (UTC)
I sort of agree with it being cluttered. I started on a subgroup version of the Zombies mode template, seen here, and to me, it looks overly crowded and very clumped up. That template is long enough as is, and with the subgroups, it's just going to be longer. Also, no more than 5 links would be on one line when using the subgroups. http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/276/1/2/bionicle__unity_duty_destiny_by_cyberpictures-d6p3li2.pngLegos-Rule-15 Talk 22:00, May 18, 2014 (UTC)
Despite it being "squished," it makes it bold and makes a technical use of the subheadings for listings. When there's a heading, the subheading has to be prompted in some way, and this is the most organized way of doing so. NinjaFatGuy (talk) 01:38, May 22, 2014 (UTC)
I'd still be game. http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/276/1/2/bionicle__unity_duty_destiny_by_cyberpictures-d6p3li2.pngLegos-Rule-15 Talk 01:42, May 22, 2014 (UTC)
Our current system works, and doesn't make the templates seem squashed at all. 03:08, May 28, 2014 (UTC)
I am fine with it as is as well. In my opinion, besides it being a bit squashed, it would look bad in many templates with 15-20 section, and only a good 4 or so use the subgroup. For small templates like the one your Titanfall weapoons used, it is a perfect idea, however, with our lists, which use much more sections, I feel it just gets a bit in the way. http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/276/1/2/bionicle__unity_duty_destiny_by_cyberpictures-d6p3li2.pngLegos-Rule-15 Talk 04:23, May 28, 2014 (UTC)
Agreed, some of the lists and templates we have currently usually quite a bit of sections, and it makes the template slightly unneat. This could although be used on some smaller templates. Captain Emblem MW2 Capt. Miller · talk 05:22, May 28, 2014 (UTC)
I support this idea, I had this idea for distinguishing between Multiplayer and Extinction maps for the COD Ghosts maps template. Here's an example of it that I had previously added to that template (I wasn't aware of this discussion): Template:User:TheDethklokGuy This would also work for the WaW/Black Ops (1+2) map templates because it can organize and divide the multiplayer and Zombies maps. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 01:11, May 30, 2014 (UTC)
Dethloks idea for the template looks much neater, and doesn't squash it up. This definitely could be used on smaller templates, like for maps, as he said. Captain Emblem MW2 Capt. Miller · talk 17:33, May 31, 2014 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I am neutral leaning towards oppose on the matter, however, Dethloks idea is much neater, I agree. However, I see little use for the maps template since there is only 1 extinction map per DLC. It is fine as is with the (Extinction) next to the map name. http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/276/1/2/bionicle__unity_duty_destiny_by_cyberpictures-d6p3li2.pngLegos-Rule-15 Talk 18:19, May 31, 2014 (UTC)

I think it would look better without the (Extinction) tags next to it. Also on the Black Ops maps template for the Rezurrection DLC, every map is labeled as a Zombies map, which wouldn't be necessary with a subgroup.TheDethklokGuy (talk) 19:52, May 31, 2014 (UTC)

Vote[]

Discussion has been stalled for a very long time now. So moving it to a vote. Option 1 is adding the new feature, option 2 is not doing so.

Option 1[]

  1. They don't need to be in every template, especially if they squish the content, but for many it makes things more organized and visually appealing. (Examples) TheDethklokGuy (talk) 22:34, August 5, 2014 (UTC)

Option 2[]

  1. I feel this causes the list to squish up more and will make navboxes much bigger than they are now. 17:48, August 5, 2014 (UTC)
  2. It causes the templates to become too squished. Captain Emblem MW2 Capt. Miller · talk 11:27, August 8, 2014 (UTC)
  3. Much too squished. Even my personal weapons template, which uses abbreviations for the games, appears sort of squished. http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/276/1/2/bionicle__unity_duty_destiny_by_cyberpictures-d6p3li2.pngLegos-Rule-15 Talk 14:57, August 9, 2014 (UTC)
  4. i agree now that actually it looks too tight. RisingSun2013 21:17, August 10, 2014 (UTC)
  5. I haven't seen one example that makes the templates look "cleaner", and it seems like it would be a lot of work for what might end up being a negative result. http://i.imgur.com/4XBy83R.pngAntiScootaTwotalk  13:12, August 15, 2014 (UTC)

Closed - The template will not be added. Capt. Miller 04:45, October 13, 2014 (UTC)
