With the beginning of another year, I feel that this is an appropriate time to commence another clean-up project to maintain our wiki's standard of quality. Although chatting with other users this time of year is within reason, we have one of, if not the largest, database on Call of Duty at our hands. We must be vigilant about improving the improved if we want to maintain that status.
Administrators are welcome to add to the list. All other users can come up with proposals on the discussion page. BovellTalk | Contrib. 18:25, January 2, 2011 (UTC)
Update: I've created a ribbon to give to users who help out with the project as we look to close the project by the end of February. BovellTalk | Contrib. 15:59, January 29, 2011 (UTC)
Closed - Project has reached its completion after two months. While the overhaul may be finished, some of the tasks listed here can be continued throughout the year, and hopefully will improve our wiki's quality even further. BovellTalk | Contrib. 22:59, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
As seen here, we still have some articles that do not have any categories. Similar to the last time we had this project, any categories that you may encounter while categorizing that are duplicates/poorly named may be deleted (or requested to be deleted) or merged with others. In short, make sure the policy on categorization is followed correctly. BovellTalk | Contrib. 18:25, January 2, 2011 (UTC)
For registered users, please nominate any articles that you find that do not meet the criteria for notability. Administrators, please go through this page and close successful/unsuccessful requests and delete the page if needed. Additionally, see if any of the nominations can have the respective page speedy deleted.
For those who have bots or use the AWB, go through some of the major article categories and run the RegExTypoFix. BovellTalk | Contrib. 18:25, January 2, 2011 (UTC)
Neglect has been given to a myriad of articles that relate to the earlier games in the series. Even if you don't have extensive knowledge of Call of Duty: United Offensive, please, just read through some of the articles and see if you can do anything to improve them. Additionally, looking through the vast amount of Stubs is a good starting place. BovellTalk | Contrib. 18:25, January 2, 2011 (UTC)
Preach it, brother! Answering the old school Call of Duty! bibliomaniac15 07:37, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
...and likely others that I may have missed. BovellTalk | Contrib. 18:40, January 2, 2011 (UTC)
Like I said before, a lot of these wanted things have been deleted and are only on the list because articles (including users' pages) still include them. PoketapeTalk 23:11, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
And also, some of the wanted templates are personalized block messages, so unless we re-implement those or replace them on the talk pages they were on, I don't think there's a way to take them off the list. —Unsigned comment was added by Poketape
If you find that to be the case, would it so much of a hassle to correct/delink them? BovellTalk | Contrib. 22:35, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
It's even easier to redirect the broken template link to an existing vandalism/block template. Callofduty4Octavia22:48, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
Yes, images, something which really needs to be sorted out. The topics Forum:Ban PimpMyGun and Forum:New usergroup need input, and reading these could help you understand what the problems are.
At the moment, around 80% of new images uploaded are unlicensed. In co-ordination with the policy here these images should be deleted, but a lot of editors have decided to not follow that policy and instead take it upon themselves to license images which the original uploaders have neglected to license themselves. This allows us to keep the images, but at the expense of a lot of time being used up to license them. There are a few categories which can help you here:
As an important addendum, any images that you encounter in articles that are not of high quality can have {{imagequality}} tagged on the image's information page. This will add it to Category:Images of poor quality, which is another category to start patrolling. BovellTalk | Contrib. 14:23, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
Count me in. I'll do what I can to clean up the wiki. --ukimies {talk | irc | administration} 18:47, January 2, 2011 (UTC)
JSBot is now working, if we can get the new usergroup sorted out and give JSBot it, then it can start moving images and automatically updating the links to the moved image in articles. Callofduty4Octavia13:45, January 6, 2011 (UTC)
Moving all PMGs to the proper PMG_name.type format. Also, I'm in. Sp3cSprechen17:55, January 22, 2011 (UTC)
Usergroup has been setup and image maintenance is going on at a steady rate. Thanks to all involved. --Callofduty4 19:27, January 28, 2011 (UTC)
Note to all - JSBot can move images very very easily, if you want access to the image commands, ask User:Cakemix on her talk or on IRC. --Callofduty4 16:02, January 29, 2011 (UTC)
I've been trying to clear up all the pmg as good as the bot can, still some permission problems and other problems but yea it has taking care of many pmg file name tags. --Ikin 00:16, February 21, 2011 (UTC)
Lately, there's been many videos showcasing montages which we don't need in our mainspace articles. People may also upload videos for the sole purpose of advertisement, which is also not allowed. You can go through articles, removing select videos and reporting them to administrators to be deleted.
Images that qualify to be removed include:
Montage videos
Unused videos
Videos of extremely bad quality (e.g. recorded with a camcorder in front of the screen)
Basically any video which isn't remotely like a guide should be deleted. This is what we've been doing and it's going well. Callofduty4Octavia18:15, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
Teb1996 is blocked for a month for posting this kind of crap. That should give us time to delete the videos he added. PoketapeTalk 03:14, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
Poketape, there was another user who advertised on the BO: Weapons page. I'll check my edits and see if I can find them for you. Sp3cSprechen04:47, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. He was originally blocked for three months for self-advertisement, but when I saw the similarity in names posed by this comment I made it until the year 3000. Please comment on my talk page if he appears again. PoketapeTalk 05:25, March 2, 2011 (UTC)
