On the "Harry Potter Wiki", I remember that there were pages for people who were only briefly mentioned or described, such as "Old Nose Picking Man". I remember in the book it said something like "He watched the old man pick his nose". I am just wondering if maybe we could do something similar to that. Like if there is a randomly-named character and we don't make pages for randomly named people, we could name the article something like "B-52 Pilot" or "Makarov's Murderer" (for whenever he dies). It is NOT following COD:GRANULARITY. It is simply widening our number of pages and making us seem more professional.
COD:NOTABILITY dictates what should or shouldn't have an article -- and not all things need articles. Are you suggesting we make pages for "Guy who gets blown up" regardless of their actual notability? --Scottie theNerd 09:27, July 8, 2011 (UTC)
COD:GRANULARITY is a retired policy that is no longer enforced, it is there for archival reasons, and is no longer relevant to page creation. 17:01, July 8, 2011 (UTC)
No. I am saying that we make the articles if they actually do something. In the level, SOG, in the subtitles, it says there is someone called "F4 Phantom Pilot". He assists the SOG team in defending against the NVA. I'm not saying make articles like "Guy Who Dies", I'm saying make articles if they actually do something, but we don't know their name. We have articles for Militia Captain, VC Bookie, and Spetsnaz Operative. Why don't we have one called "Cuban Dancer", for the woman at the start of Operation 40? And if we have one for Militia Captain, then we sholuld have one called "Young Kid" because that is what Mason refers to him as in Crash Site. Did the Militia Captain play a part? The VC Bookie didn't do too much crap either. And also, COD::NOTABILTY may say that, but COD:BB says I can do it if I want.
Well, honestly, what is notable about the VC Bookie or Militia Captain? Mace170Talk 16:10, July 8, 2011 (UTC)
Those characters contribute to the story as members and/or leaders of their respective factions. Whilst not given a name directly, this does not reduce their importance. Deleting them would be a bad idea because what if someone is reading an article about the mission in which these minor characters appear and thet want to know a little more about them, where is the article then? 16:58, July 8, 2011 (UTC)
Pages for people who are briefly mentioned aren't going to decrease the amount of stubs we have. — --mr_experttalk 16:13, July 8, 2011 (UTC)
Still, no one answered my question. Mace170Talk 16:18, July 8, 2011 (UTC)
You see, your arguement is that if we have articles for minor characters we should have articles for everyone. Your arguement isn't a very good one because even thought they are small and hardly noticeable characters, they interwind with the main plot, while the "Cuban dancer" does not affect the story at all and is just there as an "extra" while the pilot can be seen as a "minor character". 16:52, July 8, 2011 (UTC)
