- "It looks like a hard, stiff, golden rod."
- — Edward Richtofen

Added by URLThe Vril Generator or Golden Rod is an item used in the Original Characters Trapped easter egg in Call of the Dead. Richtofen asks for it in the final step. When Richtofen receives it, Richtofen talks about controlling the world. The characters will then teleport to Shangri-La. The golden rod can be seen in the player's inventory while playing as Richtofen in Shangri-La. Richtofen later merges the Vril Generator with Focusing Stone on Moon, and then uses it to swap bodies between Samantha Maxis.
The Vril Generator looks similar to the Buddhist relic Vajra. It is required to completely finish Moon's Easter Egg, Richtofen's Grand Scheme.
Trivia
Edit
- Once the player has received the Focusing Stone in Shangri-La the focusing stone and the golden rod fuse together.
- An outline of the V-Device appears on the crest at the base of the black pyramid in Moon. It serves a purpose in releasing Samantha Maxis from the Pyramid.
- The Vril Generator is very similar to the Vril staves that appear in the book "Vril", the Power of the Coming Race a 1871 science-fiction novel. In the novel, Vril is a mysterious substance which is made into large rods or staves that allow the owners access to an extraordinary force that can be used to destroy, heal and control, similar to the powers of the Vril Generator. Interestingly, the V-R11 is another reference to Vril.
- It is seen in the Moon's loading screen, being called V-Device.
