- — Description from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
A golden Desert Eagle.
There are six golden weapons in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare based on Saddam Hussein's real gold-plated guns. They are acquired by completing all the challenges for their weapon class, except for the golden Desert Eagle Mark XIX, which is achieved when level 55 is reached. Golden weapons have no benefit and are activated like the other camouflages. They are lost when Prestige Mode is activated. Many players choose to obtain these golden weapons by playing a Cage Match with a friend and repeatably headshotting them.

[edit] Trivia
- All of the weapons that can have a gold finish in this game are weapons used mainly by the Ultranationalists in the Single Player campaign.
- The weapons could be based off of real gold-plated guns that once used to belong to Saddam Hussein. During the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the US forces discovered a golden AKS-74u and SVD in one of his palaces.
- The finger print on the back of the Mini Uzi becomes much more visible when it has the gold camouflage.
- It has been said that the golden weapons are the best in their respective classes, as chosen by Infinity Ward. This is supported by the fact that certain golden guns are the last ones to be unlocked for their class in Modern Warfare 2.
- The shine that the gold camouflage gives is taken off when the "Specular Map" option is turned off in the graphics. Notice the M1014 in the pictures above and how it is a dull yellow instead.
- The M60 is the only Golden gun not to reappear in Modern Warfare 2 (obviously not with golden camo, but you get the picture).
