Private Higgins drives a jeep belonging to Team A of the small squad led by Sergeant Starkey. He is seen waiting in his Jeep at the end of the Battle of Matmata, while Starkey and Carlyle are boarding the jeep; they drive on through the night. The next morning, Higgins is on the gun turret on the jeep while he and Carlyle hear from Sergeant Starkey about allies trapped in an unnamed fort occupied by German forces. Starkey stops the Jeep to take on fuel, and Higgins remains on the turret, but is shot and killed by a German sniper. Carlyle shoots the sniper and after the Jeep is refueled Starkey and Carlyle escape.
