Homeland Security is the fourteenth Special Ops mission in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. In this op, the player(s) focus on eliminating all five waves of enemy infantry as well as accompanying vehicles.
The Infinity Ward best time for Homeland Security is 7 minutes 31.20 seconds.
In a similar fashion to Sniper Fi, the player has to defend themselves from five waves of enemies, including infantry, BTR-80s, helicopters, and Predator drone attacks. On Veteran difficulty, there are 160 enemy soldiers, two BTRs and three helicopters. To complete this op, the player is given a selection of weaponry at the start, though extra weapons can be found in various buildings throughout the level.
The player starts near the Nova Gas Station with a loadout in front of them, containing a few situational weapons and Sentry Guns. The player has ten seconds before the start of the first round. The Overlord will notify the player of significant enemy moves.
Although the player can stay in the open without much danger other than surrounding infantry troops for the first round, it is advisable to stay inside a building for the other four rounds due to enemy vehicles and more notably an enemy AGM drone. Enemies can come from different areas of the map and will usually throw smokescreens to cover their advance. To counter this, the player is offered an M14 EBR with Thermal Scope in many places, one of which is the starting spot.
The player will come across a helicopter in the third round, which can be destroyed with bullets or an AT-4. An RPG-7 is found in several places also, but it is rather inaccurate against helicopters due to the missile curve. The helicopter should not be approached from an open spot as it can kill the player with relative ease, but instead shooting it from a place with cover is a good idea.
On the fourth round, along with infantry a BTR-80 will spawn going the main road. It will only shoot the player if spotted, but if the BTR-80 is targeting the player, the player should seek for cover as soon as possible. The only ways to destroy one is to use either Semtex (which replace the Tactical Grenade slot) or a launcher; bullets, frag grenades and underbarrel grenade launchers will do no damage against it. Alternatively, if the player is lucky enough, the enemy AGM can destroy it.
The fifth round will give the player all the enemy forces have: lots of infantry, two helicopters and a BTR-80. Rushing may be dangerous as the vehicles alone boast a challenge to defeat without going down. It might be the best to stay in one building, focus on infantry first and then vehicles, one by one. When the last enemy infantryman/vehicle is killed, the mission ends.
