Sergeant Jack Evans was a soldier of the British 6th Airborne Division and an SAS operator. He took part in Operation Overlord to secure Pegasus Bridge. Later as part of the SAS, he helped destroy the Eder Dam in Germany, and also sabotaged the German battleship Tirpitz. In February 1945, he helped destroy a German V2 Rocket base. That mission was made into the multiplayer map Rocket.
[edit] Biography
Jack Evans was part of the 6th Airborne Division task force ordered to take Pegasus Bridge. He did so, knocking out multiple Panzer tanks during the battle with the bridge's own FlaK 88.
After the battle, he and his superior, Captain Price, joined the SOE. Evans helped destroy an AA battery near Eder dam that was foiling Allied attempts to destroy the dam. They escaped to a German airfield, commandeered an enemy plane for escape, and shot down a squadron of Stuka dive bombers stationed at the field.
He assisted in taking down the German battleship Tirpitz. Captain Price was wounded in the ship's armory while defending Evans as he set explosives in the engine compartment.
Evans then helped take out a V2 launchpad with Sgt. Waters, an SAS operative who helped him and Price in the previous missions.
[edit] Trivia
- It is possible Evans spoke. At the beginning on the mission "Pegasus night" someone complains about not being able to see the Bois de Bavent, to which someone responds with "For Gods sake Jack it's the biggest forest in Normandy". However this conversation may be between the pilots.
