Corporal John Jackson "Smitty" Smith was an American soldier who appears in the game Call of Duty 2: Big Red One. Under the command of Sgt. Hawkins, and later Sgt. Roger.
[edit] History
Originally being a mechanic for the Army before the war, and having worked in an artillery regiment for several years[1], Smith joined Sgt. Hawkins's squad after Pvt. Denley was killed in Sicily. It doesn't take him long to get some combat experience from fighting only a few months in the war altogether. He is first seen in the mission, "The Great Crusade".
For a few missions he's a Private, but eventually gets promoted to Corporal. He is a bit "doughy" as he spends most of his time fixing machinery rather than fighting. He proves his machinery repair skills in "The Great Crusade" when he fixes a broken FlaK 88 under heavy fire while being pestered by his own squad mates to hurry up.
