Call of Duty: Black Ops II[]

"Fully automatic LMG. Versatile and strong overall."
— Description.

Multiplayer[]

The LSAT is unlocked at level 13.

The LSAT is a moderate-damage, moderate-range LMG. At any range short of 35 meters, the LSAT will deal forty damage per bullet, needing three shots to kill. At any range between 35 and 75 meters, the LSAT will deal 33 damage per bullet, needing four shots to kill. At any range past 75 meters, the LSAT will deal 24 damage per bullet, needing five shots to kill, or two in Hardcore. The LSAT does twenty percent extra damage on a headshot, but headshots are only situationally useful. Headshots are useless at all ranges in Hardcore, and headshots in Core are only helpful past 35 meters, where a single headshot will reduce the number of shots needed to kill by one. The LSAT's range is very fair and good. Although it technically has the second worst damage profile in its class, the damage profile is a strength on the LSAT, and is almost identical to the HAMR in this aspect. The LSAT has high penetration power, allowing it to retain most of its damage when shooting through obstructions.

The LSAT's rate of fire is average for an LMG, firing at 750 RPM. This fire rate isn't particularly good nor bad. It is a middle ground between all of the other LMGs.

The LSAT's accuracy is good for an LMG. The LSAT's iron sights are very easy to use and provide an innate 1.5x magnification, enhancing long range detail. The LSAT's recoil per shot is mild. The LSAT has recoil values of 47.5 to the left, 47.5 to the right, 55 upwards, and 35 downwards. The LSAT technically has the most horizontal recoil of all LMGs, but the difference is negligibly small. The LSAT has the highest centerspeed of all LMGs, with a centerspeed of 1750. The centerspeed increases to 1925 (a ten percent increase) when crouching, and to 2100 (a twenty percent increase) when in the prone position. The LSAT's accuracy is hard to complain about, especially since the fire rate is moderate. The LSAT will generally be less accurate than the Mk 48, but will be more accurate than the QBB LSW, and will be more accurate than the HAMR until the HAMR's rate of fire decelerates. The LSAT, like other LMGs, has some idle sway, but it sways slowly.

The LSAT has poor overall handling, as one might expect from an LMG. The LSAT allows users to move at ninety percent of the base movement speed, and strafe at 32% of the base movement speed. The LSAT takes 450 milliseconds to aim down the sights, and the hip-fire accuracy is poor, making hip-fire unreliable even up close. The LSAT's reload speeds are very slow since it is belt-fed. The LSAT's reload animation is seven seconds long, although the user can Reload Cancel after just 4.8 seconds. Although the user can significantly improve their reload speed by performing a reload cancel, a reload that takes a bit under five seconds to perform is still a very long reload, and one that can put the user in grave danger while reloading.

The LSAT has an excellent belt capacity of 100 rounds. The user spawns in with two spare belts, granting an enormous starting ammo loadout of 300 rounds. This gives the LSAT significant sustained fire capability in addition to lots of spare ammo, allowing users to be quite liberal with their trigger usage.

A unique aspect to note about the LSAT is a digital ammo counter. It is located near the belt, and is visible whenever the user has the LSAT out and is not aiming down the sights. This ammo counter always shows the correct amount of bullets remaining in the belt, and is active even when the user is suffering from the effects of an EMP. This ammo counter is extremely useful in Hardcore as it provides a key contextual HUD element the player otherwise does not have access to.

The LSAT has the standard assortment of attachments available. The EOTech Sight is mostly useless on the LSAT, as it provides the same zoom level as the LSAT's iron sights, and the iron sights are already good to begin with. The EOTech Sight also provides a 1% centerspeed increase that borders on impossible to notice. The Reflex Sight reduces the magnification down to 1.35x, the assault rifle default, allowing the user to see more of their surroundings when aiming down the sight, in addition to clearing up the iron sights. Generally speaking, it is not worth using either of these attachments, since they are not a significant visual upgrade over the iron sights, and their electronic function makes them vulnerable to EMP effects.

FMJ increases the LSAT's penetration power and damage dealt against scorestreaks. The attachment is without penalty and provides useful benefits, but its value hinges on whether or not the user uses the LSAT in these situations. The LSAT is well-equipped to take advantage of FMJ thanks to its large sustained fire capability and fair damage.

The Foregrip provides a 2% centerspeed increase. Although the attachment is without penalty, a 2% centerspeed increase is so small that the attachment is not worth using.

The Quickdraw Handle reduces the LSAT's aim down sight time to 338 milliseconds, making the LSAT much quicker to aim. However, its use depends on the user's playstyle. It is insignificant for a more defensive playstyle, but it can be crucial for more aggressive LSAT usage. The same applies to the Adjustable Stock, which increases the LSAT's strafe speed from its paltry 32% to a much more respectable 72% strafe speed. This allows the user to keep their sights raised and still remain mobile with the LSAT, but the mobility will be notably reduced even with the Adjustable Stock. Again, the attachment can be very useful depending on the user's playstyle.

The Target Finder provides an electronic sight of equal zoom level to the iron sights that provides a red diamond overlay to enemies, and glows red when the user's crosshair is directly over an enemy, as well as making a humming noise when this happens. This significantly reduces peripheral vision, and the overlay effect does not work against Cold-Blooded users, but the Target Finder can be an invaluable assistant as it pertains to target acquisition at long range. For a defensive playstyle, the Target Finder can be very helpful.

The ACOG Sight provides a higher magnification level, significantly reduced idle sway, and a 2% centerspeed increase. This makes the LSAT better-suited for long range combat, but the ACOG Sight is not necessary at shorter ranges.

The Laser Sight makes the LSAT's hip-fire spread a whopping 45% tighter. This will make hip-fire performance monumentally more consistent. However, the end result is hip-fire accuracy that is in line with an assault rifle, so it'd be unwise to expect hip-fire to be consistently reliable at close-medium range. The Laser Sight makes the LSAT much more consistent at close range from the hip.

The Suppressor reduces muzzle flash, makes the LSAT quieter when shooting, and prevents the LSAT from revealing the user's position on radar when firing the LSAT, in exchange for 2% less centerspeed, in addition to the 40 damage range and the 33 damage range being made 30% shorter. The LSAT's range is still decent when using a Suppressor, and the centerspeed reduction is negligible. Should the user want to use a Suppressor, the LSAT remains plenty usable with one equipped.

The Variable Zoom provides two high magnification scope levels and reduces the amount of idle sway by five percent, but it reduces the LSAT's centerspeed by ten percent in all situations, reducing the centerspeed from 1750 to 1575. The LSAT is made noticeably less accurate thanks to the centerspeed reduction, to the extent that the attachment is hard to justify using on the LSAT, even if the gun is still controllable at 1575 centerspeed.

Extended Clip increases the LSAT's belt capacity to 135 rounds, and increases the starting ammo loadout to an enormous 405 rounds total. However, Extended Clip makes the LSAT reload ten percent more slowly, making the reload animation 7.7 seconds long, and the reload cancel time 5.28 seconds long. The LSAT reloads slowly enough that the slower reload speeds are noticeable, and can mess with the timing of those who are acutely used to reload cancelling the LSAT normally. The extra amount of ammo given is significant in volume, but ultimately, a 300 round starting ammo loadout is more than enough for most users.

The Hybrid Optic provides two electronic sights. The low zoom sight provides the same magnification as the iron sights, and the high zoom sight provides the same magnification as the ACOG Sight, giving users the chance to change their zoom level on the fly while retaining full accuracy, unlike other adjustable magnification attachments. Should users want to juggle between multiple zoom levels, the Hybrid Optic is the best of the optical attachments on offer, but the question ultimately remains whether or not an optical attachment of any kind is needed on the LSAT.

Rapid Fire increases the LSAT's rate of fire to 1000 RPM, but provides three significant downsides. The LSAT's range is reduced by forty percent, the LSAT's hip-fire spread is made twenty percent larger, and the LSAT's centerspeed is reduced from 1750 to 1488. The combination of a significant centerspeed reduction and a much faster fire rate makes the LSAT monumentally less accurate. However, 1488 isn't a horrible centerspeed value, and the LSAT's recoil is small enough that the weapon remains manageable at close-medium range. Ultimately, Rapid Fire isn't worth using on the LSAT, as it essentially transforms the LSAT into a less effective QBB LSW, having less range, worse recoil, worse centerspeed, worse hip-fire accuracy, and monumentally slower reloads than the QBB LSW, in addition to consuming a Pick Ten point, in exchange for more ammo, larger belts, and 63 extra RPM. Avoid using the attachment.

The Dual Band Scope provides a single magnification scope with a thermal overlay, with enemies appearing yellow hot through the Dual Band Scope. The Dual Band Scope provides the same magnification as the iron sights. The downside is that it limits peripheral vision and it provides a 10% centerspeed decrease, with the centerspeed going from its default 1750 to 1575. The centerspeed is still decent, but the gun will be noticeably less accurate, and the Dual Band Scope will not illuminate enemies using Cold-Blooded, who will just appear as the same green hue of the background, although still visible. The Dual Band Scope can be combined with the Variable Zoom to provide two zoom levels, but combining both attachments together gives a 19% centerspeed reduction, reducing the base centerspeed from 1750 all the way down to 1417.

Overall, the LSAT is a plenty versatile weapon that is simple to understand, easy to use, and is suitable for most situations LMGs are good at. It is almost never the best choice among LMGs for a given situation, but it is rarely a bad choice for a given situation compared to other LMGs. It is a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none sort of weapon that can be modified through attachments and perk selection to be a good fit for a number of situations, although it will be less useful in a dedicated long range or close range role compared to the Mk 48 and QBB LSW, respectively.

The LSAT appears in the pre-made class "Heavy Gunner", with a Target Finder, FMJ, and a Quickdraw Handle.

Zombies[]

It can be acquired through the Mystery Box in Nuketown ZombiesMob of the Dead, and Cell Block for 950 points. The LSAT appears in Buried as a wall weapon for 2000 points. Like the multiplayer version, the LSAT retains its high ammo capacity (which is increased from 200 to 400) and high damage. These traits are offset by the weapon's long reload time. As such, Speed Cola is a useful perk if being pursued by a large horde of zombies. Because of the lack of Stamin-Up in both Nuketown Zombies and Mob of the Dead, one must switch to a lighter weapon in order to be at a distance from zombies due to its low mobility rate. In Buried, however, Stamin-Up is now featured, which now benefits increased mobility speed with the LSAT without the worry of switching to a lighter weapon. Consequently, this makes Electric Cherry another good choice when swarmed, as it gives some protection from zombies. Even though it has exceptional range in terms of damage, it is not recommended for close quarters engagements as zombies can easily overwhelm the player if they are not able to avoid them in time.

When Pack-a-Punched via the Pack-a-Punch Machine, it becomes the FSIRT. It retains its 100-round magazine with an increased reserve ammo capacity of 600. It is also one of the weapons that can be Pack-a-Punched multiple times to cycle through attachments such as the Target Finder, ACOG Sight, Foregrip, and Reflex Sight.

Location in Buried[]

In Buried, the LSAT is located on a catwalk above the initial starting area. A precisely timed jump is required to climb up onto the catwalk. The LSAT costs a hefty 2000 points, and can only be purchased by a player precisely once as the catwalk will collapse soon after climbing it. The player must rely on Max Ammo power-ups and the effects of Vulture Aid to manage the high ammo capacity of the LSAT. If the player manages to hold on to the LSAT long enough to Pack-a-Punch it into the FSIRT, they will unlock the FSIRT Against the Wall achievement/trophy.

Call of Duty: Ghosts[]

"Fully automatic. High rate of fire with advanced recoil compensation."
— Description.

The LSAT returns in Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Campaign[]

The Federation troops wield LSATs throughout the campaign. Logan Walker uses the LSAT in "Severed Ties" without attachments.

Multiplayer[]

The LSAT costs 8 Squad Points to unlock.

The LSAT is a low damage, moderate range LMG. At any range short of 22.5 meters, the LSAT will deal 38 damage per bullet, needing three shots to kill. Damage decreases linearly until 44.8 meters. At any range past 44.8 meters, the LSAT will deal twenty damage per bullet, needing five shots to kill. The LSAT has a three shot kill range of 27.5 meters, and a four shot kill range of 38.6 meters. In Hardcore, the LSAT has a one shot kill range of 35.8 meters. The LSAT deals 35% extra damage on a headshot. Due to how the damage benchmarks play out, the LSAT will need multiple headshots to gain the benefit of a headshot, but they are normally helpful. The LSAT's damage profile is a weak aspect of the gun relative to other LMGs, having the second shortest three shot kill range and the shortest four shot kill range of all LMGs. The LSAT has high penetration power, allowing it to retain most of its damage when shooting through walls, although the LSAT's lower damage per shot makes it less effective at such a role.

The LSAT's rate of fire compensates for its lesser damage. The LSAT has the second fastest fire rate in its class, at 800 RPM. This fire rate makes the LSAT quite competitive at medium range, where its still respectable three shot kill range allows the LSAT to kill quickly.

The LSAT's accuracy is a decent aspect of the weapon. The LSAT's iron sights are clear enough, as the front sight is small and has a lot of space around it to allow for peripheral vision. The LSAT's recoil per shot is mild. The LSAT has recoil values of 50 to the left, 50 to the right, 50 upwards, and 15 downwards. The LSAT has a decent bit of horizontal recoil, and some vertical recoil. The LSAT has a centerspeed of 1300, not that great a value. The LSAT's main advantage in accuracy is that the recoil values are made 30% smaller on the first three shots. This makes burst fire with the LSAT extremely accurate, as the recoil values on the first three shots are extremely small overall, to the extent that the first three shots are essentially perfectly accurate. The LSAT is one of a few weapons in Ghosts Multiplayer that will make a distinct visual sway when transitioning from sprinting to aiming down the sight. It is extremely notable on the LSAT as the entire gun twirls around visually for about a second before the user can clearly see their true point of aim. Using Ready Up can alleviate this greatly, although it will still be present.

The LSAT's handling traits are bad, as per usual wih the LMGs. The LAST restricts users to 80% of the base movement speed, and a strafe speed of just 32%. The LSAT has an aim down sight time of 350 milliseconds, and the hip-fire accuracy is poor. The LSAT's reload speeds are also very slow. The LSAT's reload animation is 8 seconds long, or 8.7 seconds long on an empty belt. In either case, the user can Reload Cancel after 6 seconds. These are among the slowest reload speeds on an LMG, with the Chain SAW being slightly slower. The user must be sure to protect themselves when needing to reload, as the process is long and painful.

The LSAT gets the standard, large belt capacity of 100 rounds. The user spawns by default with two belts total for a starting ammo loadout of 200 rounds. The LSAT will use up this ammo rather quickly due to its lower damage profile and faster fire rate.

The LSAT has the standard assortment of LMG attachments on offer. The optical attachments are all available, and they can help make the LSAT better for medium and/or long range combat, or assist with target acquisition.

The Flash Suppressor reduces the visual effect of muzzle flash. Muzzle flash is only really relevant if using the iron sights, and the LSAT's front sight is positioned high above the base of the weapon where the muzzle flash emits, so it is not that notable of muzzle flash anyway. The attachment should be avoided. The Silencer reduces muzzle flash, makes the gun quieter when firing, and prevents the LSAT from revealing the user on radar when firing it in exchange for the LSAT's range benchmarks being made 25% shorter. The LSAT's range benchmarks are rather unimpressive, so the attachment can be quite painful as it causes more four and five shot kills, but the attachment is quite useful in Ghosts due to its slower paced combat and extra focus on stealth. The Muzzle Brake will boost the LSAT's range benchmarks by 20%, making three and four shot kills more common. The attachment has no penalty and makes the LSAT more competitive at medium ranges. The attachment is a great pick on the LSAT.

The Foregrip makes the LSAT's recoil values ten percent smaller. The effect of the Foregrip also stacks with the innate recoil reduction on the first three shots have 37% less recoil. The attachment further assists the LSAT's accuracy, especially after the first three bullets have been fired. The LSAT has a large difference in accuracy after the recoil reduction effect wears off within the burst, and the use of the Foregrip can help make the accuracy more consistent. The Grenade Launcher provides an underbarrel grenade launcher and two grenades, but comes at the expense of the user's lethal equipment slot. If the lethal equipment slot wasn't being used anyway, then the cost comes in the form of one less perk point. The attachment is powerful and can be very useful if made more of the focus of the class, but its high opportunity cost makes it an attachment that forces the user to build their class more around it, as it will tend to disappoint if it is just haphazardly added onto the class. The Shotgun adds an underbarrel, semi-automatic shotgun that can be fired at a moment's notice that also takes up the lethal equipment slot and a perk point. The Shotgun is ineffective on its own and can only really be used as a panic option in CQC. It doesn't prove to be a very popular and/or effective attachment in many cases.

Extended Mags increases the belt capacity to 150 rounds and boosts the starting ammo loadout to 300 rounds. This attachment is without penalty, but is definitely at its weakest on the LMGs due to their relative lack of need to further boost their belt capacity or their starting ammo loadouts. Still, the attachment is great for an indecisive user. Armor-Piercing allows the LSAT to mostly ignore the effects of enemy Ballistic Vests and Juggernaut armor, making the LSAT much more effective against users of said pointstreaks. However, the value of the attachment highly rides on these things being used in the first place. Rapid Fire increases the LSAT's fire rate to 952 RPM, making it fire far more quickly, but at the expense of the recoil per shot being made 5% larger. The combination of higher recoil per shot and higher fire rate will make the LSAT much less accurate, but the LSAT can handle the reduced accuracy rather well. The recoil increase will clash with the LSAT's innate recoil reduction, as the first three shots in a burst will now only have 23% less recoil as opposed to 30% less recoil, but the effect will still be rather significant overall. Rapid Fire can heavily accentuate the LSAT's killing ability at close and medium range engagements.

Overall, the LSAT is a decent LMG that specializes more at medium range proficiency than typical long range combat roles that LMGs normally serve. It is perhaps the closest thing the user can get to a Chain SAW that can aim in the true sense, having enhanced fire rate and less recoil in exchange for lower bullet damage and range. The LSAT suffers at long range and is thus unsuitable for more traditional LMG usage. Instead, the user needs to be more mobile with the LSAT than normal. The LSAT's combination of accuracy and fire rate, in addition to acceptable power at medium range, make it a weapon that can do great at said ranges. Those looking to use the LSAT in a more traditional sense, however, will normally find that the lacking three shot kill range will be quite a detriment.

Extinction[]

The LSAT appears in the maps Nightfall and Mayday. On both maps, it costs $3000.

It has a very high damage output, good accuracy, and a large 100 round belt to work with, but it overall handles very sluggishly, so players that don't use the Weapon Specialist may find less use for this weapon overall. Its only competition on either map as far as LMGs go is the Chain SAW. Compared to it, the LSAT will have more ranged effectiveness and ranged precision, but the Chain SAW has better handling characteristics, vastly improved hip-fire accuracy, and a faster fire rate. The LSAT is the better choice for medium range combat and beyond, whereas the Chain SAW has the upper hand in CQC.

On Mayday, the LSAT can be of highly elevated importance due to the lack of medium-range weaponry on the map and the nature of the Kraken fight calling for medium range weaponry.

In the heat of battle, reloading the LSAT can be quite dangerous, and as such, one should be prepared to switch to his/her alternative weapons should a cryptid endanger the player mid-reload.

Locations[]

  • Nightfall: In the first area, inside the control room that is blocked by a Hive.
  • Mayday: In the second area, on a catwalk that's opened by side doors (either the optional door or the mandatory door). In the third area, in the back corner of the bio lab. If a hive is present in this corner, it must be destroyed first before the LSAT can be accessed.

Trivia[]

Call of Duty: Black Ops II[]

  • The digital ammo counter is not affected by EMP.
  • The word "Adios" can be seen written on the side of the LSAT in blue pen. "V4SQ33Z" can also be seen. This graffiti is a reference to PFC. Vasquez and her M56 Smartgun from the movie Aliens.
    • "Adios" is a Spanish word that means "goodbye".
  • The weapon has markings of HoboTronics, Inc. on the side.
  • The LSAT's serial number is "102473"
  • The LSAT has a grip attached all the time, but it will remain folded and unused unless the Foregrip attachment is implemented onto it.
  • The LSAT has an elevation measure below the iron sights that is always set to five.
  • The rounds fed into the LSAT are blue. Their color can be changed by applying some camouflages that cover the whole weapon.
  • The Pack-a-Punched LSAT, the FSIRT, is an anagram of the word "FIRST", in the same sense that "LSAT" is an anagram for "LAST".
  • When the LSAT is placed in the Weapon Locker in Buried and taken out in either Die Rise or TranZit, it will become the RPD.
  • The Primary Gunfighter wildcard image shows a soldier using a LSAT.

Call of Duty: Ghosts[]

  • The LSAT appears to have some variant of the Net Camouflage equipped by default.
  • The LSAT has an elevation measure that is always set to four.
