The Laser Sight is an attachment featured in Modern Warfare 2: Ghost, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Call of Duty Online, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Modern Warfare 2: Ghost[]

The Laser Sight is attached to Simon "Ghost" Riley's Desert Eagle in the cover for Dead Won't Rise.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3[]

It appears only once in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, attached to the Starstreak as an integrated attachment. It is used to guide its missiles to its targets when playing Vertigo on solo. In co-op, however, one player uses the Starstreak while another guides the missiles with a Laser Sight on their gun.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II[]

"Increases hip fire accuracy."
Create-A-Class description.

The Laser Sight is available to all weapon classes in Call of Duty: Black Ops II, excluding launchers and special weapons. Laser Sight increases the hip fire accuracy of a weapon, essentially replacing the Steady Aim perk from previous Call of Duty games.

When attached to a weapon, it emits a beam of light pointing where the weapon is facing, tightening the hip fire crosshairs and thus increasing the weapons hip fire accuracy by reducing the bullet spread. Contrary to widespread belief, the rounds do not land exactly where the laser points. The laser, which emits from the gun, can only be seen by the player using it and not the other people, and the beam of light becomes completely invisible when the player aims down the sights of the weapon.

It affects each weapon class differently. By default, the Laser Sight will make the hip-fire spread 37.5% smaller than its original size. On the LMGs, the Laser Sight provides the largest statistical benefit, tightening the hip-fire of LMGs by 45%. The sniper rifles and SMGs receive the smallest benefit from the Laser Sight, with their hip-fire spread only becoming 27.5% tighter. There is a potential disadvantage to this attachment; while it will aid the player if they are accurate, a weapon with no Laser Sight will compliment players who have inferior aim by giving them a bigger hipfire area, thus a higher chance to hit enemies when not looking directly at them.

The Laser Sight's value and effect varies wildly for each weapon class. For LMGs, the Laser Sight will make hip-fire actually reliable in CQC, whereas LMG hip-fire spread cannot be trusted unless in very close ranges. This can make higher fire rate LMGs quite lethal in CQC. Sniper Rifles will remain unreliable from the hip with the Laser Sight, and the main use for the Laser Sight on sniper rifles is more as a reference towards the center of the screen to help with quickscoping. Assault Rifles will have tight hip-fire spread that can be used reliably out to a fair distance. Shotguns that fire buckshot will be able to fire from the hip with much more precision and reliability, although the spread from the hip is still wider than aiming down the sight. Pistols will have a very tight hip-fire spread with the Laser Sight and make hip-fire competent out to a surprisingly long distance. The average SMG will have hip-fire spread tight enough to make hip-fire viable out to medium ranges, while the PDW-57 and MSMC will regain hip-fire accuracy that remains competitive with the other SMGs.

Even on weapons where the benefit conferred by the Laser Sight is small, hip-fire accuracy will still be improved considerably.

When the user of a gun with a Laser Sight attached is hit by an EMP Grenade, the red laser diode will turn off, but the hip-fire tightening benefits of the Laser Sight will remain.

It should be noted that on the Type 25 and QBB LSW, the Laser Sight is attached right below the front iron sight, and it will obstruct the lower part of the iron sights when aiming. The Laser Sight's sight obstructing effect doesn't apply if an optical attachment is attached to either of these two weapons.

Call of Duty Online[]

The Laser Sight appears in Call of Duty Online.

Call of Duty: Ghosts[]

The Laser Sight returns in Call of Duty: Ghosts, and it is only integral to the ARX-160, the Chain SAW, and the MAAWS. The MAAWS is fitted with a laser sight in all game modes, whereas the ARX-160 and the Chain SAW are only equipped with one in multiplayer. This attachment has the same effect on the ARX-160 and Chain SAW as from Black Ops II: it reduces the radius of the hipfire circle, thus making hipfire accuracy a lot better. The one on the MAAWS however, is used to laze targets for the rockets. It is possible to pair this attachment with Steady Aim, leading to the best hipfire accuracy.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare[]

The Laser Sight returns in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. It can be attached to all assault rifles (except the AE4), heavy weapons (except the EM1 and the EPM3), submachine guns, shotguns (except the Blunderbuss), and to the Atlas 45, MP443 Grach and M1 Irons.

It decreases the radius of the hip-fire cone by 15%. The Laser Sight is significantly weaker than past iterations of the attachment.

It is best paired with weapons that are Akimbo by default (XMG and SAC3), as it increases accuracy overall instead of just accuracy without aiming. Additionally, the Laser Sight is once again present on the MAAWS by default to guide the rockets.

This attachment cannot be paired with the Tactical Knife nor with Akimbo (on pistols only) via Secondary Gunfighter.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare[]

"Reduces bullet spread when firing from the hip."
— In-game description

The Laser Sight returns in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, this time emitting a green laser instead of a red laser.

The Laser Sight is available for all weapons except the Combat Knife, Sniper Rifles and Launchers. The Laser Sight acts similarly to its predecessors, by decreasing bullet spread upon firing from the hip. In Infinite Warfare, this attachment can be paired with Dual Wield, makes Akimbo weapons more accurate.

Usage of the laser sight is majorly beneficial when equipped on a submachine gun or assault rifle, as these weapons provide a viable last ditch option in ambushes or surprise attacks laid upon the player.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4[]

"Improved hip fire accuracy."
— In-game description

The laser sight returns in Black Ops 4, it uses the red laser as before.

Some weapons allow players to equip the optional Laser Sight II after attaching the normal laser. The hip fire accuracy doesn't decrease when moving if Laser Sight II is on the weapon.

Call of Duty: Mobile[]

The laser sight returns in Call of Duty: Mobile. Initially it was a single attachment for all weapons except Sniper Rifles, Launchers and Melee Weapons.

Before Season 9: Conquest, the Laser Sight attachment emits a red laser similar to the previous games before Modern Warfare.

Currently, There are 9 laser sights in game available in all weapons except for Arctic .50, Pharo, Launchers and Melee Weapons.

The first three laser sight attachments, the RTC Laser 1mW, MIP Laser 5mW and OWC Laser - Tactical are shared from Modern Warfare.

The other three laser sight attachments, the 1mW Steady Aim Laser and 5mW Combat Laser are shared from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in addition of Aim Assist Laser.

Aim Assist Laser only increases the ADS Bullet Spread. The laser beam is visible while aiming.

The two laser attachments that are only available to Chopper and Fennec are RTC Laser - Merc and YKM Laser - Ranger.

RTC Laser - Merc increases Hipfire Bullet Spread and also slightly increases ADS Bullet Spread, but increases aim down sight time by 8.0% . Its green laser beam is visible to both aiming and from the hip.

YKM Laser - Ranger increases Hipfire Bullet Spread and also increases ADS Bullet Spread while moving. Similar to MIP Laser 5mW, the laser beam is visible when not aiming or sprinting.

Another laser attachment that is exclusively on Koshka is the Fast Aim Laser.

Fast Aim Laser increases Hipfire spread and Scope Opening Bullet Spread, but it decreases Lung refresher and increases Aiming Crosshair Drift. The laser beam is visible when not aiming or sprinting.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare[]

The laser sight returns in Modern Warfare. There are 3 laser sights in game. Laser sights have their own Laser category.

1mW Laser slightly increases hip fire accuracy, also slightly improves sprint out time for shotguns. Its laser beam is red and can't be seen by other people.

5mW Laser moderately improves hip fire accuracy and sprint out time. Its green laser beam is visible when players are not aiming down sight or sprinting.

Tac Laser improves accuracy while aiming down sights as well as the initial time it takes to aim. Its green laser beam can be seen while aiming.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War[]

The laser sight returns in Black Ops Cold War, There are also 3 laser sights, although 2 of them are the same. Laser sights can be found in Body category.

Steady Aim Laser slightly improves hip fire accuracy without any penalty.

SWAT and GRU 5mW Laser Sights greatly reduce hip fire spread, but increase aim down sight time by 8%.

SWAT 5mW Laser Sight is available for NATO weapons, Warsaw Pact weapons use the GRU one.

While not appearing as an attachment proper, the Hand Cannon features an integrated laser sight.

Trivia[]

General[]

  • The laser sight is off when the weapon is not being used. When a character is killed, the laser on the current weapon is automatically turned off.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II[]

  • In multiplayer, when players aim down the sights, the laser beam disappears. But in campaign, the beam is still there, except weapons with single rendered scopes (default sniper scope, Dual Band or Variable Zoom).
    • When aiming down these single rendered scopes, the weapon model disappears, that's why the muzzle flash is also gone.
  • In campaign, players can seldom find a weapon with laser sight and Dual Band Scope despite this combination is impossible when customizing the loadout.
  • When the laser sight is equipped on primary weapons, the character will turn on the laser when picking up the weapons or a match begins.
    • If that primary weapon also has a grip or grenade launcher, the default animation will be played. This shares with the MMS.
      • For MP7, the character unfolds the grip.
    • If a primary weapon has laser sight and MMS at the same time, the character will turn on the laser.
  • Laser sight replaces the flashlight on MTAR and Peacekeeper.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III[]

  • The MR6 has an unusable integrated laser sight, equipping the attachment will replace it with a flashlight.
  • Kuda's laser sight appears as two sights fixed to either side of the gun, but the beam only emits from the right side.
