The Locker and Key are gameplay elements in Extinction mode. Locker Keys can be found in Search Piles on all maps except for Point of Contact. These keys will allow the player to open a weapon locker, which will give a customized version of a weapon that can be purchased on said map to the player for free.

The weapons received from weapon lockers can be a great source for attachments, with the weapon coming with an attachment for every category of attachment that the weapon can support. The weapon from the weapon locker can have as many as four attachments equipped. The weapon returned from the weapon locker will also have maximum reserve ammunition unless the user is using the Limited Ammo relic. This combination of traits makes the weapon from the weapon locker very helpful in the early stages of the game, saving the user money as well as providing a slew of attachments, making the player less reliant on receiving these attachments from search piles, allowing others to take found attachments more often as they please, and providing lots of ammo.

Restrictions[]

  • All sniper rifles and launchers are incapable of being received from a weapon locker.
  • Pistols cannot be found in weapon lockers.
  • Special weapons such as the Venom-X and NX-1 Disruptor cannot be given through weapon lockers, and handheld Equalizers like the War Machine and Death Machine cannot be received from weapon lockers either.
  • Players using the Pistols Only relic will be barred from taking any weapons from weapon lockers.

Attachments[]

The determination of attachments equipped on a weapon from the weapon locker is as follows:

  • The weapon will receive a random optical attachment that is capable of being equipped on the weapon. Weapons that are not eligible to equip an eligible optical attachment will never be given through the weapon locker.
  • The weapon will receive a Muzzle Brake. Weapons that are not eligible to equip a Muzzle Brake will never be given through the weapon locker.
  • If applicable, the weapon will receive a Grip.
  • If the user does not have Master Scavenger and the weapon can equip Rapid Fire, the weapon will receive Rapid Fire.
  • If the user that opened the weapon locker is using Master Scavenger and the weapon received cannot support Rapid Fire, the weapon will receive Extended Mags if it can equip the attachment.
  • If the player that opened the weapon locker has Master Scavenger and the weapon returned from the weapon locker is capable of having either of Extended Mags or Rapid Fire, the weapon will have one of these attachments equipped at random.
  • Weapons from the weapon locker will never have the Burst Fire attachment, nor will any weapon from the weapon locker use its original iron sights.
  • Even if the player opening the weapon locker has Master Scavenger, the weapon returned from the weapon locker will never have an ARK equipped.

Key[]

Keys can be found anywhere around the map in search piles. They have a rare chance of spawning. Any player that can interact with search piles can find a locker key, and the player's character will make a comment expressing their pleasure at finding a locker key. A player can only hold one locker key at a time, and if a player has a locker key on them, a key icon will be present near the player's health and armor bars in the bottom left corner of that player's HUD. This key icon disappears when the player uses it to open a weapon locker. The key is used up regardless of whether or not the player takes the weapon from the weapon locker.

An upgrade is available in the Armory for 40 teeth that allows players to start every game with a locker key in their inventory by default on maps that feature weapon lockers.

Locker locations[]

Nightfall[]

  • Right when a match starts in Nightfall, the players can destroy the Hive on top of the building, allowing access to two lockers.
  • A hive in the second area blocks a room that contains five weapon lockers.
  • The Facility itself contains eighteen weapon lockers. A number of them can only be accessed by destroying hives that block both the Venom-X room and the weapon testing room. Without destroying hives, the player should have direct access to nearly a dozen weapon lockers scattered throughout the facility.

Mayday[]

  • Two lockers can be found opposite of the optional side door in the first area which contains the ARX-160.
  • Four lockers appear just outside the Cargo bay next the the Hypno Trap and Tesla Trap Schematics.
  • Weapon lockers are present in the mandatory side door room where the player activates the lift to take them to the top of the ship.
  • One can find them inside the side door areas (from the cargo bay and onwards).

Awakening[]

Exodus[]

  • There are three lockers in the starting area.
  • There are four lockers in the parking garage.
  • There are three weapon lockers scattered around the gas station.
  • There are two weapon lockers inside the damaged building.
