Private McLaughlin was a soldier of the 1st Infantry Division assigned to Fox Company who fought in World War II, as seen in Call of Duty 2: Big Red One. He only appears in the mission An Easy Detail.

Biography[]

McLaughlin went on a patrol with Sgt. Hawkins's squad in the forests around Mons, Belgium. He drives the first jeep with Private Kelly in it. When the jeep patrol approaches the neutralized German convoy, an unknown soldier in McLaughlin's jeep says "Poor bastards, our boys sure did give 'em hell" and gets shot by an ambushing German. At the end of the chase, the patrol is being fired upon by German mortars and the jeeps lose control. McLaughlin survives the crash, but Miles Castillo (the driver of the third jeep) was killed. McLaughlin and the squad then defend themselves against the attacking Germans and proceed on towards a German position with trucks. After taking out three groups of Germans, the squad proceeds on to the mill. McLaughlin will kick the back door open and shoots the Germans right behind them. The Germans won't notice this if the player does not enter the mill from the back door. When the squad was defending the mill McLaughlin was in the loft when Hawk tells him to destroy an armored car with a bazooka but he gets shot. The player had to pick up his bazooka after his death.
