Mission is a medium-sized map that takes place around a bombed out church and surrounding areas in Sierra Leone, Africa. The opposing factions are the PMC and the African Militia.
Mission is a medium sized map featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The two main spawn points are located at either end of the map, at the bottom of the hill and near the top of the hill. Near the center of the map, there is a severe elevation change that gives an over-look position over roughly a quarter of the map. This hill is often hotly contested. There are several buildings on the map, but not many indoor opportunities. There are many back-alleys that offer the same style of close quarters combat. There is a good amount of long range lines of sight on the roads of the map.
The weapon armory is located in the south-east corner of the map in the small corner way, and the equipment armory is located in the west side of the map on the long wall. The tin building in which players could climb on in multiplayer is blocked off in survival as is the building near C flag that faces toward A flag. This map can be very challenging during rounds with Little Birds, as there are very few indoor areas to take cover in.
Near the C-Flag of Domination there is a house with an open door at the second floor. When going into spectator, inside on the wall the words "Porter wuz here" and a teddy bear underneath can be seen.
In Survival Mode, the staircase of the house near the Weapons Armory is blocked with a sofa, so the player can't go up there.
In the house near the C-Flag of Domination, the second floor has a chest of drawers which has a copy of 'The Jungle Book'.
There is a current glitch in the game in which the player can slide onto the pipe coming out of the hillside and press the jump button when they land on it causing the player to "bounce" high in the air.
