For the killstreak in Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified, see Mortar Team.
For the Strike Package in the Extinction mode of Call of Duty: Ghosts, see Mortar Strike.

The Mortar Fire, also referred to as Shock and Awe and Salvo, is a reward obtained in the Field Order's Care Package on the multiplayer maps WarhawkContainment and BayView in Call of Duty: Ghosts.

On Warhawk, when activated an air raid siren blares and the map becomes overwhelmed by mortar fire; explosions go off, killing enemies that are outside (the user may occasionally succumb to friendly fire if he or she goes outside). Players have to take cover inside buildings and wait it out in order to survive. It lasts for 30 seconds.

On Containment, once called in the same thing occurs, except a bell tolls in the church tower to signal the incoming fire; the small volley of mortars hit the truck containing a small nuclear warhead in the middle and causes a huge explosion, killing anyone and everyone near it, as well as blowing up and sinking the bridge in the middle of the map.

On BayView, when called in the mortar fire is actually an artillery strike fired from ships anchored out at sea outside the map. Compared to Warhawk, after the air raid sirens being to blare, it lasts for 60 seconds, as the mortars are actually fired from the ship and take time to travel the distance before hitting the map, and the ships fire more mortars than in Warhawk. Other than that, its much like the same as the one in Warhawk.

  • The mortars from this also randomly rain down throughout the match on Warhawk.
  • Annoyingly, for the player that calls in the Containment Mortar Fire, any kills they get don't even count as them getting the kills, just the killed players commiting suicide by headshot.
