This is a glossary of various player terminology, seen in varying levels of usage among players. Since slang and acronyms are always being invented, along with new games, this list will never be truly complete.

• 123 Noobkill: Killing 3 unskilled players in very quick succession.
• 60th Noob: A derogatory term describing a player who uses the M60 in Black Ops extensively.
• 360: When the player spins 360 degrees or Xbox 360
• 360-noscope: when the player spins a full 360 degrees and gets a kill with a sniper rifle or bolt action rifle from the hip.
• 360 Quick-scope: More difficult to pull off, involves a player spinning a full 360 degrees, quickly aiming down the scope, and scoring a one shot kill.
• 360 Clutch: A clutch in a full game of Search and Destroy including all kills clutched with a 360 quickscope.
• 360 Tomahawk: When a player spins a full 360 degrees and gets a kill with a thrown tomahawk.
• 3arc: Treyarch.

A Edit

• Accolade: 'Badges' awarded to players after matches for certain achievements (i.e. most kills, highest killstreak).
• Ace: Killing the entire enemy Search & Destroy team all by yourself. Similar to Clutch. (See section C.)
• Ace Clutch: Killing the entire enemy team in Search and Destroy as the last one left alive on the players team. A variant of 'Clutch'.
• Across the map: Getting a kill across the map.
• Admin: Administrator.
• ADS: Aiming Down Sights.
• AEAE: All editors are equal.
• AfD: Articles for Deletion.
• AFC: Away From Controller
• AFK: Away From Keyboard.
• Aimbot: A program used by a hacker to gain easy headshots etc. by automatically aiming the weapon without the player using the normal controls. Using said aimbot will result in a permanent ban on the Steam network, PSN and Xbox LIVE. It is similar to the aiming program used by campaign NPCs and Black Ops multiplayer bots.
• AK: Referring to the AK-47 or AK74u.
• Ammo: A shortened term for ammunition.
• Anon: An anonymous user.
• Assassin Snail: The act of going prone, sneaking up on an unsuspecting opponent and knifing them.
• AR: Assault Rifle.
• Auto Aim: (when not referring to Aimbot) or Aim Assist: Consoles (Xbox / PS) FPS (First Person Shooters) always default to a setting that assists the user with bringing the crosshairs to nearby; near-center enemies. Often assisting in No-scoping/Quick-scoping and of large debate when it comes to the argument of Consoles vs PC gamers and the everlasting argument of Mouse & Keyboard being superior (since it doesn't need the crutch)
• Auto Switch: When a player runs out of ammunition in their weapon, the game switches their weapons for them. Players often complain about this as it deprives them from doing actions such as knifing or using equipment.
• AUGasm: A player who constantly use the weapon AUG in Black Ops or in MW2.

• BB: Short for Be Bold, a policy on Call of Duty Wiki, stating that a user should edit a page themselves, rather than asking someone else to do it.
• BB (PC Multiplayer term): Short for Bye-Bye, said when a player is leaving the server.
• Baby Buffalo: A term used to refer to a player who is unfamiliar with a map and who usually runs into open areas to be quickly killed.
• Baby Gun: Slang for Shangri-La's 31-79 JGb215, due to the fact zombies grow big heads and small bodies.
• Baby Monitor: Negative slang for Heartbeat Sensor.
• Baby AK: Negative slang for the AK74u.
• Balls to the Wall: Reckless playstyle.
• Banging: The act of hitting someone with a Flashbang, Nova Gas, Concussion Grenade, etc.
• BBL: Be back later.
• Beast: Epic or of high skill. Example(s) : "That was beast!" or "He's/She's beast!"
• Beckel: A player who has a younger sibling that is better at COD than they are.
• BEL: Behind Enemy Lines, a game mode in Call of Duty.
• BG: Bad Game (opposite of GG, or Good Game).
• B.K. Randy (Bad Kid Random): A random inexperienced player that is matched with your team
• Blackscope: Term used by competitive snipers; when watching someone from spectator mode, you do not see through their scope. You can only see a "black" scope.
• Blinged: Putting 2 attachments on a single weapon, with the Bling perk.
• BO: Call of Duty: Black Ops
• Bolts: Slang for Bolt-Action Rifles .
• Boyfriend: A person who saves his own teammate another team.
• Bounce Spot: Random areas in COD4 maps where you may stand upon and jump, flinging you high into the air. This is due to an unpatched glitch by Infinity Ward.
• Boosting: The act of two or more players collaborating and killing each other repeatedly, usually to obtain kills/headshots/killstreaks without having to put in much effort, usually considered cheating.
  • Players reported, and found to be boosting in Black Ops, receive punishments from Treyarch, including stat resets, full resets to level One (no prestige), temporary suspension, and even permanent bans from Black Ops multiplayer due to extreme or repeated offenses.
• Boss: Being great or very good at the game for example when used in a sentence "I'm a boss". Often found in a players clan tag.
• BRB: Be right back.
• Bro Rush: The act of charging an enemy with the intent of knifing rather than shooting.
• BS: Bullshit.
• Buff: An increase in the effectiveness of an item as the result of a patch.
• Bazooka: Slang for a rocket launcher. May also refer to the actual Bazooka in one of the World War 2-based Call of Duties.
• Beaver shot: When a player gets a headshot with a shotgun. Also known as Bieber shot to some players.
• Blops: Slang for Call of Duty: Black Ops.
• Blop Shot: The act of getting killed by an enemy player while he/she is in the process of falling into Second Chance/Last Stand/Final Stand.
• Bordering: Going around the very boundaries of the map for the whole match, often getting lucky kills.
• Buck shot: A kill with a shotgun
• Burst Noob: Derogatory term for someone who excessively uses burst-fire weapons with a setup that allows for an easy one-burst kill. Players may sometimes only be called a Burst Noob if they camp at long range with a burst fire weapon. See Camping.
• Butt Buddy: A player following another player around to either avoid being killed or just for help.
• Bunny Hop: The action of jumping while engaging in gunfights or turning corners. See Halo Jumping, under H.

• Camp: The act of staying in one specific area of a map while waiting for enemies to come into visual range.
• Camper: A term used for someone who camps. Campers are disliked by many players who believe the strategy unfair.
• Care Paco: Slang term for care package
• Cross-Map: Used when one gets a kill by throwing a throwing knife across the other side of the map.
• Charlie: The "C" flag placed on any given map in Domination (Charlie being the NATO phonetic alphabet equivalent to the letter C) and also contemporary slang term given to the Viet Cong in the Vietnam War.
• Cheap scoper: An insult used against quickscopers. see Noob scoper.
• Christmas Noob: Refers to the wave of inexperienced players that get Call of Duty on Christmas Day.
• Clutch: A situation in which a player makes a last stroke to win the match while losing by many points. It also is referred usually in Search and Destroy is the last alive on their team. That player then proceeds to kill all remaining players left on the opposing team by themselves, or otherwise win in a situation as the last man alive with at least 3 enemies left alive.
  • Can also be applied in game modes such as Demolition or Search and Destroy when a player defuses a bomb planted by the opposing team at the last second, with the Bomb Defused notification coming up within less than 2 seconds before the bomb explodes. Usually, the rest of the defending team will have already considered the round/game to be lost, thus making the clutch defuse surprising to both teams.
• Co-Op: multi player operation/game
• CoD Sesh: Short for CoD Session, said when CoD is played for a massive amount of time continuously, much like a marathon.
• CoD: Call of Duty.
• CoD2: Call of Duty 2.
• CoD2:BRO: Call of Duty 2: Big Red One.
• CoD3: Call of Duty 3.
• CoD4:MW: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
• CoD5: Call of Duty: World at War.
• CoD6: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
• CoD7: Call of Duty: Black Ops.
• CoD8: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
• CoD:BO: Call of Duty: Black Ops.
• CoD:FH: Call of Duty: Finest Hour.
• CoD:MW2: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
• CoD:MW3: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
• CoD:MW:R: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex.
• CoD:RtV: Call of Duty: Roads to Victory.
• CoD:UO: Call of Duty: United Offensive.

• C.O.L. : Chuckle Out Loud
• Collat: Short for Collateral
• Collateral Damage: A challenge that requires the player to get two or more kills with one sniper bullet. A reference to battlefield terminology of the same name referring to damage that is unintended or incidental to the intended outcome.
• Cook: Holding a live grenade before throwing it; shortens the amount of time enemies have to react.
• Commando Noob: A player who runs around knifing (usually with the tactical knife attachment) with a Marathon, Lightweight and Commando Class setup in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Can also be used to define a play on Black Ops who constantly uses the Commando Assault Rifle.
• CT: Combat Training.
• CTF: Capture the Flag.
• Core: Non-hardcore modes.
• CP: CODPoints or Care Package.
• Crawler (Zombies): A zombie who has had its leg(s) blown off by an explosion, resulting in it crawling, and as a result, giving players more time to do things such as upgrading weapons and build barriers without being threatened. This term can also be used to refer to Crawler Zombies.
• Crouch Jump: To crouch just as one jumps over something, which allows the player's character to pull their legs up, allowing the character to jump over things that would be too high to jump over normally.
• CQC: close quarters combat
• Cujos: Slang for Attack Dogs

D Edit

• DBAD: Short for Don't be a dick.. A policy on Call of Duty Wiki, which states that you should not try and start flame wars, trolling, etc..
• DDD: Short for Don't delete discussions. A policy on Call of Duty Wiki, that states that a user is not to delete any discussion on a talk page.
• DFTT: Short for Don't feed the trolls.
• Deagle: Slang term for a Desert Eagle.
• Death Ray: Slang term for the Wave Gun.
• Dead Weight: Derogatory term for players who do not play Search & Destroy properly and are the cause of the loss of the round.
• Dedicated server: A non player-hosted server. This means it is hosted by the publisher(s)/developer(s) of the game.
• Demo: Short for Demolition gametype.
• Dirty KillCam: When someone does a Quickscope/No-scope or any other fancy kill in a KillCam.
• Diver: Similar to dropshooting, a person who, upon seeing an enemy, dolphin dives at him and either knifes the enemy or shoots at his feet.
• DM: Deathmatch, a multiplayer game mode. Commonly referred to as a "Free For All" in the Call of Duty universe.
• Dolphin Dive: Slang for Dive to Prone.
• Dom: Domination gametype.
• Domed: The act of getting a headshot.
• Drag Scoping: A technique where the player scopes in with a scoped sniper rifle and drags their scope across the target, shooting when the cross-hair aligns with the target.
• Dribbler (Zombies): A zombie who's legs have been blown off (See Crawler)
• Dropshot: Going prone immediately upon encountering an enemy in close quarters combat in order to avoid gunfire while shooting. Many "skilled" players may do this as a player almost never dies while dropshotting. Generally frowned upon.

E Edit

• Easy Mode: Term used by an experienced player to insult his or her opponents or to put emphasis on the ease of a match. Can also be interpreted as the campaign difficulty.
• Elevator Glitch: A glitch that causes the player to rise straight up into the air. Is considered a form of cheating by many.
• Emblem: An emblem is a feature on Black Ops which allows the player to create their own logo with shapes, numbers and many different pictures. It can be viewed on the players Playercard. Black Ops also gives players the option of displaying their emblem on their weapon. Emblems in the Modern Warfare series are pre-set and are unlocked via challenges and ranking up/prestiging. Emblems are located next to a player's title.
• EZ2TUBE: Easy To Tube, refers to a player that keeps getting hit by a grenade launcher.

• FA: Short for "Featured Article"
• Fat Ass: Term used for the character model of a player using the Flak Jacket perk in Call of Duty: Black Ops.
• Faggot: A derogatory term for a homosexual. Often used as an insult towards other players.
• Fail: Often said when a player dies when attempting to pull off a flashy kill or feat.
• Famashole: Derogatory term for a player using the FAMAS. See Famas Noob
• Famas Noob: When a player uses the Famas in Call of Duty: Black Ops extensively.
• FamAUG: slang for the Famas or AUG due to the fact the two guns are extremely similar.
• Feed: When a player appears on the kill feed rapidly because he killed 3 or more enemies without getting interrupted by other kills.
• FFA: Free-for-All.
• Firecap: The maximum firerate for single shot weapons. The lower the firecap, the longer time between shots.
• First Blood: Getting the first kill at the start of a match.
• Flamewar/Flaming: The act of cussing or insulting another user/player with the hopes of starting an argument.
• Flamingo Slap: When a quickscoper gets insulted for quickscoping.
• Flanking: The act of circling around an enemy to attack them from the side or back.
• Flash: Flashbang.
• Floater : A term used to describe a player who jumps or walks off the edge of high place at the end of the match, floating as a result of the round/game ending. Often performed in Search and Destroy when the player is being spectated.
• FMJ: Full Metal Jacket. An attachment in Modern Warfare 2 that allows for deeper bullet penetration. Replaced with the Impact proficiency in Modern Warfare 3.
• FMJ Kill: A bullet penetration kill. See "Wall Bang".
• F.N.G.: Acronym for "Fucking New Guy": Was originally a derogatory name used in the Vietnam war for new squad members sent from the U.S. to troops in Vietnam, as the veterans often found the new member lacking in essential jungle warfare skills.
• FN FAIL: Term used against the use of the FAL, typically ones used with modded controllers.
• FPS: First-person shooter.
• Frag: Fragmentation grenade.
• Freddiewing: Jumping into the air and killing someone with a Launcher. Named after a YouTube user named Freddiew, who made a video called "Rocket Jump" doing the same action.
• Friendly fire: Shooting an ally. This can cause failure in single player and is a setting that can be enabled in multiplayer.
• FTL: For The Loss.
• FTW: For The Win.
• FMSprayer: A player who sprays bullets around windows or thin cover in hope of getting an FMJ kill.

• Gas: short for the Nova Gas Tactical Grenade
• Gardener: A term used for players who always plants the bomb in objective gamemodes, including Demolition, Sabotage, and Search and Destroy
• Gardening: The act of planting a bomb excessively in bomb-objective gamemodes
• Gat: Nickname for the MPL due to it slight resemblance to the TEC-9, a SMG commonly used by street gangs.
• Georgie: nickname for George A. Romero in Call of the Dead.
• GotYaBack Jack: A name for a friendly player.
• Gaymore: Negative term in multiplayer, mainly on PC, for Claymores, often said when a player is killed by one.
• GG: Good Game.

• Can also mean "Good God" as an expression of exasperation.

• GGA: Good Game All
• GJ: Good Job
• GL: Short for Grenade Launcher. (Can also mean "Good luck")
• GLAHF: Short for Good Luck All Have Fun
• Granada: Portuguese for grenade, usually said by players in an accent to mock the Militia faction in Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3.
• Grenade spamming: Excessive usage of grenades/Semtex with little or no actual aiming. Usually in conjunction with the Frag x3 (Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare) One Man Army or Scavenger perk.
• Grenade Switching: Throwing a grenade at teammates and quickly switching teams for kills. Usually done on hardcore for no friendly fire penalty and for easy kills. (Only on PC due to the fact that on consoles, players cannot switch teams).
• GOML: Get On My Level.
• Griefing: Intentionally ruining other players' fun by performing annoying actions (e.g. team-killing, following, blocking).
• GTFO: Get the F**k Out or Get The F**k Off.
• GG NO RE: Good Game, No Redo
• GF: Good Fight

H Edit

• Hacker: Someone who alters the game's code, often giving them an unfair advantage. Highly frowned upon and a bannable offense. Can also refer to the hacker perk in Black Ops.
• Halo Jump: The act of jumping from side to side in an attempt to escape a direct firefight or to throw off an enemy's aim. This tactic comes from Halo, and is less effective in Call of Duty due to lower health and slower movements. Can also mean a hacked lobby with very high jumps. Name originates from the high jumps in the Halo series
• Hardscope: To use a scoped weapon such as a sniper rifle by aiming down the scope and taking aimed shots quickly after sighting an enemy player. Often contrasted with quickscope.
• Hardscoper: A player who hardscopes.
• Hawk: Short for Tomahawk.
• Harry: Nickname for the Harrier.
• Headshot: Killing an enemy with a shot to the head. Often seen as a display of precision and skill, although random unintentional headshots are common.
• Hillbilly: Derogatory term for a player who uses shotguns excessively.
• Hit The Box: To use the Mystery Box.
• Host: The player running a multiplayer game for other players to join. Applies to console versions of Call of Duty games and to PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
• HQ: Headquarters.
• HQ Pro: Headquarters Pro.
• Holo: Holographic Sight.
• HS: May refer to headshot or hardscope.
• HUD: Head-up display. This is the on-screen overlay that shows information such as remaining ammo, match scores, the cross-hairs and the mini-map.
• Haxor/Haxer: Slang term for hacker.

• IRL: In Real Life.
• Infinity Warded: Action of dying because of unexpected glitches, explosives, lag or other abnormal issues in games produced by Infinity Ward. See Treyarched.
• Intervention Noob: A player who pretends to be a pro at quick scoping but is a beginner, or a derogatory term for a player who excessively uses the Intervention.
• Ivan: Slang for Russian military forces.
• IW: Infinity Ward.

J Edit

• Jerry: A contemporary slang term for the Germans during World War II, mostly used by the British.
• Jedi Mode: Using Commando, Lightweight, Marathon, and Tactical Knife together.
• Jug:The Zombie perk Juggernog or Juggernaut.
• Juggernaut: Heavily armored enemy encountered in Modern Warfare 2 and 3 campaign and Special Ops, as well as a pointstreak in Modern Warfare 3. Has very slow movement speed but makes up for it with extremely high damage resistance and usually powerful Light Machine Gun. Some may have a Riot Shield.
• Juggernoob: Derogatory term for a player that uses Juggernaut.
• Jugs: A term used for the Juggernog perk in Zombies. Also a term for the Juggernaut in Modern Warfare 2 and 3.

K Edit

• KC: Stands for Kill Confirmed.
• K/D Whore: A player who tries their hardest to get a good Kill/Death ratio every game, so their overall kill/death ratio is high. Usually used in reference to someone who, in an objective game, chooses to ignore the objective completely and instead focus purely on getting kills.
• KD or K/D: Kill:death.
• KDR: Kill:death ratio.
• K.I.A.: Killed in action.
• Killjack (Sometimes "Kill-Jack"): A less common term for "Killsteal".
• Killsteal: The act of killing someone that someone else was already trying to kill. Also killing a player in Second Chance or Last Stand in Call of Duty 4, 5, 6 and before the patch for 7 is called 'stealing their kill'.
• Kiting: The act of making big clumps of zombies and going in a circle, similar to a style of a kite. Synonym for Rape Train.
• Knife noob: Derogatory term used against players who use only knifes (usually Tactical Knife) with Marathon, Lightweight, and Commando.
• Knife gunner: Same as knife monkey, except used to describe those with Ballistic knives.
• Knife runner: Same as knife monkey.
• Kraut: Derogatory term for Germans during WWII.

L Edit

• L2P or lrn2play: Learn to play.
• Lag: Refers to either framerate lag or network lag. Network lag is the delay between messages being sent over the internet. Framerate lag is when the game runs slowly. Lag often occurs with bad internet.
• Laggy: To describe a match that has lag.
• Lag Switch: Cheat device designed to disrupt internet communication to the game server, causing all players in the match, aside from the user, to suffer high lag. Using this is considered a bannable offense by most game companies including Xbox Live and Sony's PlayStation Network.
  • Some players are mistaken for using a lag switch, but simply have a very poor internet connection.
• Lag switcher: A player who attaches a lag switch to their internet in order to enable them to have an advantage over other players.
• Lag-x Bro: Term used to describe a friend that is a horrible host. Often used by 10-12 year olds on MW2.
• Leadless: Used to describe someone who is out of ammunition.
• Leet (also written as l33t or 1337): Slang term for "elite", refers to a skilled and/or experienced player. Often used in an ironic manner to describe players who would constitute the opposite of this term.
• Leet speak: An internet-based way of typing that "leet" players use. Consists of replacing letters with numbers and symbols, l1k3 7h15.
• Legit: A word meaning awesome. Usually extremely difficult trickshots or other hard-to-do things are considered legit.
• Level: Term used to refer to a mission, or a rank which is earned via XP in Multiplayer mode.
• LDK: Means Long Distance Kill. Used when a player gets a kill from a long range with a weapon that is not usually meant for medium to long range use.
• Line-sighting: Similar to Drag-Scoping, except with a non-scoped rifle, normally bolt-action.
• LMAO: Laughing My Arse/Ass Off.
• LMFAO: Laughing My F**king Arse/Ass Off.
• LMG: Light Machine Gun.
• Lobby Squatting: Derogatory term used to describe a player who signs two controllers in on Zombies, but never reacts either up, causing the game to be impossible to start.
• LOL: Laugh Out Loud or Lots Of Laughter.
• Longshot: The act of killing a player over a long distance (distance depends on weapon's range). A 'medal' is awarded to players that get longshots.
• LS: Short for Last Stand. Can also stand for "Luck(y) Shot".
• Luck Shot: To get a kill in a nearly impossible situation e.g. killing an enemy by no-scoping at long range or getting an across map throwing knife kill.
  • Similar to Jesus Shot.

M Edit

• Marty: Short for Martyrdom, a deathstreak in Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3.
• Martynoob: A derogatory term for a player who uses Martyrdom.
• MaLiCo/MLC: An acronym for a MW2 player who uses Marathon, Lightweight and Commando; combining these three perks is generally frowned upon by the community, especially Commando (perk).
• Meat Cleaver: Nickname for a Throwing Knife.
• MeeMaw: A name for someone who is on the brink of death with Second Chance. Derives from Sheldon's affectionate name for his Grandmother in The Big Bang Theory.
• M.I.A.: Missing in action.
• Mic (or Mike): Short for microphone.
• Milking: Firing as many shots as possible into a zombie without killing it, blowing it's legs off with a grenade, letting it tear down a barrier, then knifing it to get the most possible points out of one zombie. (Grenades aren't plentiful and are hard to use without killing the zombie so therefore it's rarely done).
• MLG Tryhard: A player who excessively trys to earn multikills, collateral's, trickshots, etc. in an attempt to seem impressive, or "MLG (Major League Gamer) status".
• Mod: Can either refer to 'moderator' or 'modification'. A moderator is a person that oversees the activity of something, such as a forum. A game modification is when a part of a game is altered, for example changing the textures of a gun.
• Modblock: If someone fires a semi-automatic weapon too fast, the game prevents it from firing. This is to disable modded controllers.
• Modded controller: A controller with a trigger that is modified to simulate rapid presses when held down, allowing the user to fire semi-automatic weapons as if they were fully automatic.
• Model: Short for Model 1887.
• Montage: When a player records gameplays, they may put them together in a montage.
• MP40Juggernoob: A player who uses the MP40 in combination with Juggernaut.
• MP: Multiplayer.
• Multiplayer: A gameplay mode that allows for multiple human players to play in the same game.
• MVP: Most Valuable/Valued Player.
• MW2: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
• MW2Noob: Derogatory term used by CoD: Black Ops players, to describe a player using tactics similar to those seen in MW2 that were frowned upon. A primary example, include players using Lightweight, Steady Aim, and Marathon Pro perks, to recreate the knifing class build of MaLiCo users from MW2. The term is used often to imply that the "MW2Noob" should go back to playing MW2, so as not to "ruin" Black Ops multiplayer

• N1: Short for Nice One or Number One.
• 'Nade: Short for grenade.
• Nade Switching: See Grenade Switching.
• NAT: Network Address Translation. An open NAT type will allow for better matchmaking, whereas a strict NAT type will make matchmaking more unsuccessful.
• NBK: Natural Born Killer. Also means "Nothing But Kill"
• Nerdgasm: Hysterical screaming and gloating brought on by difficult tasks being accomplished, such as a no-scope. Normally happens to multiple people witnessing the feat.
• Nerd Rage: Indignant, hysterical, and incoherent screaming brought on by video game induced frustration.
• Nerf: A reduction in the effectiveness of an item as the result of a patch.
• New-account: Name given to players who have reached the maximum prestige level, but have created a new account so they can rank up again.
• Ninja Defuse: Act of defusing a bomb a few seconds after an enemy plants it in Search and Destroy . Players attempting a ninja defuse often use the Ninja or Dead Silence perks as it makes it hard for enemies to hear them. Ninja defuses usually happen when a player is the last alive.
• N.O.P: Non-Objective-Player
• No-Lifer: A person who plays Call Of Duty very often and for enormous quantities of time. They often have a lot of junk food and drinks by their side.
• Noob: General: Derogatory term used to express resentment toward another player, which used to mean "new player" but ended up as a cliche in many games.
• Noob scoper: Derogatory term used to refer to "Quick scopers".
• Noob tube: Derogatory term used to express resentment toward grenade launchers.
• Noob Tuber: A derogatory term towards a player who uses Grenade Launchers and Rocket Launchers excessively due to their high blast radius. Unskilled players often "noob toob" because the shot does not have to hit the enemy dead-on, just in their general area. Highly frowned upon.
• No Scoping: The act of firing the sniper rifle from the hip (i.e. without using the scope).
• Nova: Short for Nova Gas. Also a nickname for Crawler Zombies, since they release a gas similar to Nova Gas.
• NP: Short for No problem.
• NPC: Non-playable character.
• Nub: Alternative for Noob (new player).
• Nuke boosting: The act of killing an accomplice repeatedly to be able to call in a Tactical Nuke or a M.O.A.B. Usually done with Tactical Insertion.
• 'Nuff said: Short for "Enough said."
• NUW: New User Welcomer.
• NVA: Short for North Vietnamese Army.

• Overpowered: A weapon, perk, or piece of equipment that gives a player a significant advantage over someone who is not using said weapon, perk or equipment. (It should be noted that whether or not something is "overpowered" is often open to interpretation.)
• Overkill: Using unnecessary much force to kill something. Can also refer to the Overkill perk.

• Panic Knife: The act of instinctively, or purposely knifing an enemy extremely close to the player without thought.
• Panic Knifer: Someone who instantly presses the knife button at close range, almost always granting a free kill.

• Pain Train: A situation in which a player fires at and injures a row of enemies, mostly four or six.
• PaP: Short for Pack-a-Punch.

• Pistol Switch: A trick shot usually performed by snipers. Performed by switching to your secondary but quickly switching back and firing your sniper rifle as it is being lowered back into position.

• Pwn: slang for "own" or to kill or beat in a flashy fashion.
• Pwned: Getting "owned."
• Pwnage: a flashy, amazing, or extraordinary kill or victory.
• Pissy Noob Sprayer: The Famas in Black Ops.
• Point Whore: The act of stealing all points from friendly players in Zombie Mode.
• Pocket Death Machine: Term rarely used for the Famas due to its high fire rate.
• Pack it: Quick way to tell players to pack-a-punch a weapon.

• Random: A person who is so-to-speak "unknown" in the community. Coined from competitive quickscopers that would go into public matches to brag about their popularity.
• Rape Train: In Zombies, it is an act of luring large groups of zombies into a circle, making the player receive a lot of points when shooting them.
• RCP: Recent Changes Patroller.
• RDS: Red Dot Sight.
• Reload cancel: Cancelling a reload before the animation is completed to resume firing quicker.(Alternatively, reloading a larger weapon while it still has some rounds in it, such as the M60, and double tapping the toggle weapon button to quickly regain "ability to fire" if someone comes into your sights while reloading)Can also be done by knifing or initiating sprint.
• Respawn: To spawn again after getting killed.
• Retard Scope: When a player attempts to quick scope but does not make it fully into the scope and shoots, quite often mistaken as a quick scope or no scope.
• Ricochet Rules: Game mode which, in the event of a player firing at a team-mate, all damage will be returned to the player firing.
• RfA: Request for adminship.
• RfB: Request for bureaucrat.
• RfR: Request for rollback.
• ROFL: Rolling On Floor Laughing.
• ROFLCOPTER: Rolling On Floor Laughing, Can't Operate Properly 'Til Eyes Refocus
• ROFLMAO: Rolling On Floor Laughing My Ass Off.

• Run N' Gun: Verb that is used when a player runs around, typically with an SMG and plays very aggressively.
• Rush: Verb that is used when a player advances fast at beginning of the round ahead teammates to enemy positions, quite often into the enemies spawn point.

• S&D or SnD: Search & Destroy, a multiplayer game mode.
• SAM Sniper: A player who is able to snipe a Valkyrie Rocket (usually through luck) while its in flight, thus mimicking the function of a SAM Turret.

• Screenwatching: Watching another player's screen (In Splitscreen) to know things about them that would otherwise be unknown, most notably that player's location. (also known as Screenhacking, Screencheating, Screenpeeking, and Screenlooking).

• Scrub: A noob who uses the best of weapons, but can't do good with any of them. Also refers to a noob that acts as a "try hard".
• Search: A common name for Search and Destroy.
• Second-Chance Noob: A derogatory term for a player that uses the Second Chance Perk to cover up a lack of skill.
• Shotgun Rain: Jumping from an elevated position and shooting a player below you with a shotgun.
• Shrink Ray: A nickname used by many players for the 31-79 JGb215, due to its complicated name.
• Skiller: A player who attempts or succeeds in getting flukey, or as the name suggests, skillful kills. Examples are quickscopes or 360 no-scopes.
• Sky Screamer: Name for the Lunar Lander on the zombie map Ascension.
• Slayer: A name for a player who in objective games will only go for kills, usually to get air support. See also; K/D Whore
  • This also is used to refer to a player, part of a co-ordinated team who either protects their objectives and simply kills enemies.
• SoH: Sleight of Hand perk.
• SMG: Submachine Gun.
• Smoke: Smoke grenade.
• Soz: Short for Sorry.
• SP: Single Player.

• Sheriff: Slang for whoever is leading in Free-For-All.
• Spam: Excessive spraying of a high-capacity weapon; usually an LMG, or using One Man Army and constantly throwing smoke grenades/stuns/flashbangs/frags/Semtex.
• Spas-knife: Knifing in surprise of seeing someone/something. Generally happens to nervous players, particularly in zombies.
  • It is considered 'noobish' to spas-knife, as it will usually result in the players death (especially in zombies), unless you actually kill the target.
  • Also known as "Panic-knifing".
• Spawn Bombing: To kill a player who immediately spawns with explosives. (normally a claymore next to an enemy tactical insertion)
• Spawn camp: To camp at a spawning point in hopes of getting easy kills.
  • Also applies to players hiding in their spawn point - especially in Search and Destroy.
• Spawnkill: To kill a player as they spawn or immediately spawned, often frowned upon.
• Spawn Point: Places were players spawn at the start of the match or respawn after dying.
• Spawn Sniping: Usually found on the map Highrise in MW2 when people snipe the other team's spawn at the beginning.
• Spawn Rape: A single match in which one team repeatedly kills the enemy team at their spawn, resulting in single players having very high kill/death ratios but the opposite for the other team (low kill/death ratio). This is one of the most infamous tactics in Call of Duty, usually occurring in Demolition where teams have a small area to spawn in.
• Spawn Trapping: A tactic used in which an enemy pins somebody at a spawn point so the player will respawn again at the same area and get killed.
• Spawn tubing: When players start a match (or a round in SnD) by instantly shooting their grenade launchers up in the sky. Can not be done on Black Ops due to the 15 second Grenade Launcher delay.
• Sponge: Term used to describe a player taking lots of hits.
• Spray n' Pray: Tactic used in which a player uses a weapon with a high-rate of fire and fires only from the hip. When using this tactic, Extended Mags are known to be useful.
• S.S.D.D.: Same Shit Different Day, often used by players not having very exciting days.
• Steam: Online distribution system and community. Keeps track of games played and friend list. Required to play the PC versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops.
• STFU: Shut the fuck up.
• Stun: Stun grenade.
• Subtle: Knife kill.
• Supercommando: In Modern Warfare 2. An unusually long range melee attack, usually in online play.
• Switch-cancel: Similar to reload-cancel, except to press the weapon-swap button twice (when the weapon the player wants to switch to appears) to cut a weapon's switching animation to zilch.
• Sysop: System Operator
• Snaking: The act of a player taking another players kills. Commonly heard in zombies mode.
• Survivornoob: an inexperienced player who tries to reach high levels (such as level 30) on survival mode, but never makes it that high

• "Tango Down" Term for Target Down. Used to confirm an enemy has been killed.
• "Tango Sucka": An expression used by Opfor players after they kill an opposing player.
• TDM: Team Deathmatch.
• TDMEx: Team Deathmatch Express.
• Teabag: When a player positions himself over top of a victim's body and repeatedly crouches and stands up as a of sign of humiliation. This supposedly simulates the action of placing one's scrotum on the other's face or mouth, mimicking the sexual act.
• Team: Team Deathmatch.
• TeamEx: Team Deathmatch Express.
• Teamkill: Killing someone on the same team.
• Tele: Abrieviation of Teleporter in zombies.
• Three-Sixty: The act of jumping off a ledge, building, etc. and turning at the same time, finally coming to a 360-degree angle, then shooting/killing an enemy. This maneuver is used to flaunt a game-winning kill or to show off one's skill.
• Thumper Humper: Derogatory term for a player who excessively uses the Thumper, similar to the term "Noob Tuber".
• Thumping : a term for excessively using a Thumper, similar to Noob Tubing
• Toad: Generally unpleasant player.
• TI: Tactical Insertion.
• TL;DR: Too Long; Didn't Read, alternatively Too Long; Don't Read.
• Toma: Short for tomahawk or getting a tomahawk kill.

• Tommy: Nickname for a Tomahawk .

• Trapping: Action of trapping a friendly player in corners in core gamemodes. It is also possible to trap enemy players in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with multiple players using Riot Shields.
• Track Scoper : a player who repeatedly follows an opposing player and kills them from behind.
• Treyarched: Action of dying because of unexpected glitches, Second Chance, lag or other abnormal issues in games produced by Treyarch . See Infinity Warded.
• Trigger fingering: The act of rapidly tapping the fire button to achieve a maximum fire rate. Usually used on semi-automatic weapons.
• Troll: A person who attempts to provoke a negative emotional response through posting or saying something inflammatory, profane, or just plain offensive.
• Tryhard: One who excessively uses a weapon or tactic in an attempt to look skillful.
  • Doesn't necessarily mean doing one thing over and over, more to the point of using whatever guns / perk combos or camping spots to come out on top on points or kills. AKA, someone who isn't here for the fun of the game, but more commonly just to win & boast about one thing or another.
• Turtling: The act of putting a Riot Shield on your back and going prone.
  • More commonly known as the majority of the team staying back at "base/default spawn point" usually in CTF game types. (Capture one flag, then "turtle" to make sure they don't catch up) Generally frowned upon because of the ease of sitting in a corner.
• Twitchking: A player who gains the majority of their kills through kneejerk reaction shooting. See also: Skiller
