PlayStation 2
From the Call of Duty Wiki
The PlayStation 2 (abbreviated "PS2") is Sony's second video game console, the successor to the successful PlayStation and the predecessor to the PlayStation 3 as part of the PlayStation series. The PS2 was the best selling 6th generation game console, with about 140 million units sold. Its development was announced in March 1999 and it was released a year later in Japan. The Playstation 2 is the first gaming console to include a built in dvd player (dvd being a new technology at the time.) The Playstation 2 has the most exclusive titles for any single console. Production of the Playstation 2 will end in 2010, being its tenth year of production. The Playstation 2 is the first console of Sony's series to feature online play. Older models require that you buy a module that has a modem attached. Newer models [of the PS2] have built in modems (like the Playstation 3).
The PS2 is part of the sixth generation era, and is the best-selling console to date, having reached over 120 million units in sales in 2007.[1]
