- "Hack an enemy turret or robot's targeting protocols, turning it friendly. It will shut down after a limited time."
- — Description
|Weapon Class||Cyber Core|
Protocol Override is a Control cyber core in Call of Duty: Black Ops III. The player is able to hack into enemy turrets and robots, thus turning them into allies. ASPs cannot be overridden, and must be hijacked instead. The P.A.W.W.S. is able to overridden however. There is a twenty second delay between uses.
Much like Remote Hijack, Protocol Override enables the use of enemy robots against their teammates. This can can be incredibly useful on harder difficulties, as player-controlled Grunts tend to have the same capabilities of a normal NPC.
Overridden robots can be killed, but will usually assist long enough to see the end of the battle. This is an exception with R.A.P.S., which will self-detonate upon killing an enemy. It is considered unwise to use this during stealth sections, as an overridden robot will immediately alert any enemies.
Uniquely, this core will not function under plot-related circumstances, such as Talons in "New World", the initial waves of suicidal Grunts in "Hypocenter", and hundreds of Hendricks' controlled robots in "Life". As a result, a simple message stating "This robot is already under control" will appear across the player's HUD.
- Foe To Friend - (Bronze/10) - Use an enemy combat robot to kill 10 enemies.
