"Portable radar from the shield position."
— In-game description.

The Radar is an attachment in Call of Duty: Ghosts. It is only available for the Riot Shield.

The Radar behaves like the Portable Radar from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, detecting enemies within range of the shield user, as long as the Riot Shield is equipped (as in being currently used, instead of on the player's back). Unlike the Portable Radar, the Radar only applies to the minimap of the player using the attachment. The attachment costs 5 Squad Points to purchase.

The Riot Shield needs to be held in order for the Radar to work, and the Radar turns off as soon as it is stowed on the player's back.

The Radar has the exact same function as Ping. This also leads to it having the same quirk as Ping of making an audible sound when an Off the Grid user is within the radius despite the Off the Grid user not getting painted on the Radar.

The audible aspect of the Radar means that it has utility in Hardcore game types even when the mini-map is not present. Users can also open up their menu in order to see exactly where the enemies are even if the mini-map is not currently enabled by SAT COM, although doing so is often risky.

The Radar is immensely useful as a proximity detection device, especially for savvy users who use the audible beeps to invalidate Off the Grid and/or use the Radar in Hardcore. Its sheer utility makes it easily the best and most commonly used attachment on the Riot Shield. The Radar highly enables explosive playstyles, as it will allow the Riot Shield user to more easily make informed decisions of where to place themselves and their explosives, allowing them to take full advantage of cover and explosive radius to kill enemies from around corners and the like.
