The Remington R5 is an assault rifle that appears in Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Campaign
The Remington R5 is used later in the campaign by the Federation. Logan, Merrick, and Keegan each use a Remington R5 equipped with a Red Dot Sight in the mission "Atlas Falls". During Operation: Return to Sender, Gabriel Rorke, Elias Walker, Merrick, and Alex "Ajax" Johnson use the Remington R5 until the dam breaks.
Multiplayer
The Remington R5 costs 7 Squad Points to purchase. It is highly accurate with lower recoil than most assault rifles, making it useful on more open maps with large lines of sight. The player should be mindful of its lower rate of fire, which is a disadvantage in close-quarters engagements. It has extremely good range, boasting the highest three hit kill of the Assault Rifles at 44 meters. However, after this the R5's killing potential lowers greatly, becoming a 5 shot kill afterward. The lower recoil will help land these extra shots, but it might lose out to the stronger Assault Rifles at range (such as the AK-12, FAD, and SA-805), Sniper Rifles, and Marksman Rifles. For this reason, it is not recommended to use the Silencer, as the decreased range may lead to needing extra shots to kill. The Muzzle Brake attachment in this instance may be better suggested, as the increase in range will provide greater lethality across the larger maps. Focus is also a good perk to use with the R5, as getting hit between shots may prove to be fatal and knock you off target. It will also decrease idle sway, which is both useful for long range engagements and if the player picked one of the more zoomed sights (such as the Thermal Hybrid or VMR Sight).
