Sergeant Gary[1] "Roach" Sanderson is a character that will be playable in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. He operates with Captain MacTavish in the cold mountains of Kazakhstan trying to destroy/erase data of a crashed satellite as part of Task Force 141  and the blazing heat of a slum in Rio de Janiero hunting an arms dealer Rojas after capturing his associate Faust to stop Vladimir Makarov's sinister plot. Sanderson participates in a two-phased mission to secure an oil rig and rescue Prisoner 627 in a Russian Gulag, as well as capturing a submarine. He is then deployed alongside Ghost to retrieve crucial intelligence at one of Makarov's safehouses in Russia.

Fate

When Roach and Ghost successfully retrieve intelligence from one of Makarov's safehouses in a Russian border, the pair gets personally shot by Shepherd. One American soldier pours gasoline on their bodies while Shepherd drops a lit cigar on them.

Trivia

  • Like his commanding officer Captain MacTavish (known as "Soap" in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare), Sgt. Sanderson has a unique nickname: "Roach".
  • Like "Soap", he starts out as a Sergeant.
  • Roach's nationality is most likely British or American, since Task Force 141 is organized by the U.K. and U.S. governments; however, with the confirmation of Canadian and Australian soldiers in TF141 it is also possible he is also of those nationalities.
  • Like "Soap" MacTavish in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, he was saved by his Captain at the last moment before falling to his death.

References

  1. In an E3 demo of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Sanderson is titled as "Sgt. Gary "Roach" Sanderson" at the beginning of a mission.
