Satchel
From the Call of Duty Wiki
The Satchel Charge is a Call of Duty: World at War tier 1 perk used as a remote detonated bomb, much like C4 in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It can also be found in Call of Duty: United Offensive's multiplayer
[edit] In Game
Satchel Charges are thrown and detonated at the player's will, but disappear upon the player reviving. They are primarily used to lay out traps, and are used to destroy tanks.
[edit] Tactics
Players can use this in Search and Destroy to trap the bomb placement area, so when the bomb is activated, a player can set off their satchel to kill the enemy who placed the bomb. If a tank drives over a satchel, and is set off, the tank will instantly be destroyed. If you can't place one under the tank, it only takes 2 satchel charges in the back with Fireworks as a Perk to destroy it.
One is most effectively thrown near an important location, such as in a sniper nest, in front of an important doorway, or under a vehicle. They're hard to spot, so feel free to toss them in corners enemies usually run past. Just remember that you can only hold one at a time.
A good way to protect a tank in COD World At War is to have your team place satchel charges on it and setting them off when anyone gets too close.
[edit] Trivia
- There are an increasing amount of players that spend their matches going "Satchelling", where the player only uses Satchel charges to get his kills, be it planting and setting a trap or running backwards whilst throwing then detonating.
- With Flak Jacket, a player can "satchel jump" by placing a satchel, jumping and detonating the satchel. This is used to get into certain glitches.
