The Seed is an inventory item and Power-Up featured in the Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies map Zetsubou No Shima. The seeds can be placed in planters around the map, to which they will grow into various types of plants over three rounds, with water from a Bucket influencing what they become. Up to three seeds can be held at once by a singular player, with any additional ones just being ignored until they de-spawn, or picked up by someone with space.

If the player decides to water the plant with the Bucket, it can grow into a number of different plants depending on the level of care and type of water given to the plant. If two water types are used, the one used the most has the highest chance of being grown. The KT-4 and its upgraded counterpart can shot at the plants to "fertilise" them which will influence the final plant to possibly yield higher tier rewards.

Due to the amount of possibilities, Seeds are often confusing to players. Even when the correct type of water or fertilising is used, an exact yield is not guaranteed, instead being only a high chance. Below is information on how to best influence the type of plant desired by the player. As such, it is always recommended to grow multiple plants at the same time.

  • There are two situations where plants grown are always guaranteed to grow into what the player wants: The iridescent water plant for one of the ingredients used upgrading the KT-4 into the Masamune, and the plants used when upgrading the Bucket into the Golden Bucket. Refer to these pages for additional information on these items.

The yields listed below will assume the player tends to the plants on all 3 consecutive rounds in the way described in bold text. Fertilising with the KT-4 is additionally assumed to occur each round when mentioned, and always has a non-zero chance of creating a Clone Plant.

  • Blue Water grows a plant that is very similar to the Harvest Pods from Shadows of Evil, with each round watered corresponding to the different tiers of Harvest Pods. If the plant was fertilised by the KT-4 on each round, the rewards become much greater and can include rare and valuable items such as Cymbal Monkeys, a Bowie Knife, an Empty Perk Bottle power-up, higher tier power-ups, and if performing the specific step for Seeds of Doubt, the flak shell for the anti-air cannon. This will largely be the type of water and plants players will use the most often, unless specific Trials of the Ancients ask for creating other types of plants.
  • Green Water grows a plant that will impale the first zombie that comes near it, holding it for a long time. While the zombie is held, they will take slow damage that will eventually kill them. If the plant was fertilised by the KT-4, it will hold the zombie for a longer duration before its death.
  • Purple Water grows a plant that will attract any nearby zombies and Thrashers to it where it will then rip the head off a zombie and placing the head into its pitcher. It will also deal minor damage to players that stand too close to it. If the plant was fertilised by the KT-4, it will have a longer duration, requiring more zombies before it dies.
  • If a Seed is given all three main Water types and no fertiliser, it has the largest chance to become a fruit bearing plant, with a small chance to become a plant based on the final water type used. These fruits can be consumed for a free perk, if a slot is available. however if there are no slots, the character will start to vomit instead, awarding the One Too Many achievement if done for the first time. Despite there not being Perk Machines for them on the map, Electric Cherry and Deadshot Daquiri can be acquired this way. There is a fertilised version of this plant as well, and this version ignores perk slot limits. However, this is rare and it is more likely to grow the Clone Plant instead, which is listed below.
  • If a Seed is given all three main water and fertilised by the KT-4/Masamune on all three rounds, it has the highest chance to become a Clone Plant. Interacting with it will imprint whatever the player has at that moment to the pod and create a fully formed humanoid within in it, this includes Perks, ammo counts, Equipment, Shield, Gas Mask, and even the currently active GobbleGum. Dying with an active pod will respawn the player within the pod which can be exited by interacting and awarding the Herbal Remedy achievement if done for the first time. If a second imprint is made, the original imprinted plant will instantly wither.

Trivia[]

  • The "I'm Feeling Lucky" GobbleGum can spawn Seeds from it when used on Zetsubou no Shima.
