Multiple radios can be found in Shi No Numa, their number varies depending on which version of the map is played.

Aether Story[]

In the room where the player spawns, there are three radios that can be activated. If the player turns on all the radios in the initial spawn room (or turn on one, by holding the "use" button/key), then he can hear the following:

Automated Voice: "R-4808N 37 14 06 115 48 40."

Cornelius Pernell: "I hope you're receiving this transmission, Peter. If you are not, then all is already lost. You must know by now that we failed to contain the asylum, now we had to move the experiment here. Location. The numbers will guide you. The giant must remain (static) at all costs, repeat, Der Riese must be contained at all costs. The DG-2 experiments continue. It'll be our only advantage now. Find Doctor Richtofen and Doctor Maxis, they may know what's going on. The use of Element 115 is dangerous at best. I'm not sure how long we can continue here. We've lost most of our best (static) team. I hope you get this. I hope it hasn't happened there too, but I'm almost out of hope."

Automated Voice: "60 54 06.96 101 55 44.94."

The two sets of numbers refer to the coordinates of Area 51 and Tunguska.

In Call of Duty: Zombies, the radio announcer (Cornelius Pernell) will sound different and be shouting instead of calmly talking, and the static will be more intense.

To the left of the entrance to the Doctor's Quarters, there is a room with a radio. When the player turns it on, one should be able to hear a person laughing, whispering "Element 115," and "Find Dr. Richtofen."

In the Storage Hut, there is a radio beside the Mystery Box which plays audio from the 'Just the Beginning' Verrückt trailer.

This radio message was added with the Call of Duty: Black Ops version of the map and is also featured in the Call of Duty: Black Ops III version. There are three radios scattered around the map which need to be activated for this message to play. They can be done in any order. However, it is advised to leave the radio in the Doctor’s Quarters for last because that area has the least background noise. The first two radios to be interacted with will play the same message, which, when activated, there will be a bit of static, followed by a strange, robotic voice. When the last radio is activated, Ultimis can be heard talking about traveling to the future. The radio locations are:

  • In the Storage Hut, in the room to the right, on top of a crate.
  • In the Comm Room, inside in the right half of the area, on a shelf located in a corner.
  • In the Doctor's Quarters, in the corner on top of a crate in the outside shelter part of the room just before the door.

After activating all three radios, the last radio plays the following:

Tank Dempsey: "Eh... where are we?"
Nikolai Belinski: "A better question is-"
Edward Richtofen: "When are we?"
Nikolai Belinski: "NO! Where the hell is my Vodka?!"
Edward Richtofen: "Yes of course, the DG-2 must have overloaded the teleporter, ripping space-time, backtracing us to the future! How wunderbar! (Wonderful in German) A-HA!"

Takeo Masaki throws up, dropping Nikolai's vodka.

Nikolai Belinski: "There's my vodka! Thank you, Takeo."
Tank Dempsey: "Oh come on, Tak, suck it up and walk it off."

This radio shows how the characters got from Der Riese to Kino der Toten by using the Wunderwaffe to overload the teleporter to travel through time and space.

This radio message is exclusive to the Call of Duty: Black Ops III version. In the room where the player spawns, there will be a radio to the left of the window which is to the left of the Sheiva wall buy. The radio plays the following message:

Doctor Monty: "Shi No Numa... did I say that right? I've not really put the effort into learning Japanese. In some ways, that's where it really started for you guys. It's also where Fluffy returned, right? Well, when I say returned, I'm referring more to her offspring, the little pups. They grew big, didn't they? More importantly, they started showing signs of food aggression. Woah... that's never good. Gotta say, I still prefer an angry dog to any kind of cat. I know it's wrong to generalize but frankly, all cats are evil little shits!"

Call of Duty: Mobile[]

There were 5 radios in the Call of Duty: Mobile of the map.

Feb 20th. I believe we have just discovered a power that will turn the tide of the War.

May 15th. The "Meteor". Is it God's gift or curse?

August 13th. Test Subject 7 has expired, but not before yielding interesting resutls.

July 19th. The infected bee's venom seems to be more potent. I wonder what might happen were we to use a snake or scorpion.

Sept 30th. I must be working too hard. I just thought I saw a dancing tree.

Call of Duty: Vanguard[]

There are 18 radios featured in the Call of Duty: Vanguard version of the map. They are split up into three groups - Professor Gabriel Krafft, Die Wahrheit (comprised of Wolfram Von List, Kortifex, and Zaballa), and the other Dark Aether entities.

Krafft[]

Krafft: Krafft to Special Forces. I have an update about that page from the Tome of Rituals that you fought so hard to obtain. Bellekar and I have completed our study of its contents, and it appears we "struck gold", as the Americans are fond of saying. The page recounts how a group of priests and officials in Okinawa Prefecture banded together to save their lord from what they considered demonic possession. In fact, this man had bonded with Saraxis, much the same way that you are currently bonded to your Aethereal allies. They arranged a visit to the swampy island where you now find yourselves and ambushed him with a special relic. While the page gives specific instructions on the use of that relic to sever the bond between a Dark Aether entity and its human host, it gives no description of the relic itself. Ach. It reminds me of when I studied the writings of Alistair Rhodes -- an amateur demonologist and personal hero of mine. Rhodes wrote about different objects of power that he called "sentinel artifacts", but I was never able to find out exactly what they were. Nevertheless, if we can find the relic we seek at Shi No Numa, I am quite certain I can use it on Von List, and trap Kortifex in that little scepter of his.

Krafft: Krafft here. You are currently on one of the most remote islands in the Japanese archipelago. The few who know of it have long considered it haunted. Though "sacred" might be a better word. It is a natural "weak spot" between this world and the Dark Aether. It is where Saraxis first made contact with humanity, many centuries ago. The locals built a modest shrine there. But not Shinto. Not Buddhist. No, this was... its own thing. But while she was distracted with her "playthings", the keepers of the shrine were contacted by Kortifex himself. He told them she was a threat to their feudal lord, which she was currently inhabiting. He gave them the means to trap her. So when Saraxis returned to visit her old stamping grounds, the priests were waiting with the relic. Later, when the shrine was forgotten, and the Japanese Imperial Army set up an outpost, they had no idea Saraxis' artifact lay beneath them. And now Die Wahrheit have left their own stamp on the place, but it remains a place of magic... and menace.

Krafft: While you battle in that swamp, I want to update you on Von List's activities at the desert site in Egypt. After all, should we succeed in obtaining the relic, the Eastern Desert will be the best place where we use it on Von List and Kortifex. This is because Die Wahrheit have resumed operations in the area, which is surprising considering how many men they lost there. Remember, all the Dark Aether crystals in that area came from their catastrophic attempt to demolish the temple where we found the Scepter of Kortifex. And while they may have been trying to "cover their tracks" as it were, I still don't get why they did it. I was there when we found the Scepter, I had already seen all the secrets in that chamber. Was the whole point to further weaken the dimensional barrier? I only hope whatever they are doing now does not make things worse. But if Von List is on site, that is where we will separate him from Kortifex. That is where our final battle will occur.

Krafft: Gabriel Krafft, audio memoir part ten. I have recounted how I was forced to help Oberführer Von List and his Die Wahrheit battalion. We are almost at the end of my tale. Those final days before Von List first raised the dead where a terrifying blur. Mass graves exhumed. Piles of bodies choking the streets. And all through it, Von List was talking to himself in the next room. Except I knew he was not alone. The thing that took root in him, the demon lord that empowered and advised him -- I knew it was twisting what remained of his soul. I distracted myself by re-reading that final letter from Sasha. But it was so cold, so formal. Somehow, they had extinguished my spouse's inner warmth. And now they would do the same to the world. My only hope was that my distress call would be answered. I did not know if anyone received it. Or if they would bother to respond. But even then, my new allies were on their way. There would be a reckoning.

Krafft: Krafft. Memoir entry number eleven. On the day he finally raised the dead, Von List paid me a visit. He came to my little room wearing his dress uniform, coat draped around his shoulders. You would have thought he was going to dinner with his vile führer. He seemed giddy. The big moment was upon us, his troops waiting outside by heaps of frozen corpses. So I summoned what little courage I have and asked if he had come to kill me. He looked at me the way one might look at a pet, then reached out from under his coat. I saw he was holding a blank notebook. He wanted me at my window, recording the moment. He would let me live to see the Hell I helped him unleash. He was amused by how that sickened me. And so I watched him march out among his men and raise his arms. I saw the containment spell go up. I watched the wretched dead awaken. I thought all was lost. And then my radio crackled. It was my new allies, who had gotten in just before the red curtain of runes cut off the city from the outside world. And once again, hope entered my heart.

Krafft: Professor Gabriel Krafft, entry twelve. I shall never forget the moment I first saw the Allied soldiers who responded to my distress call. They had reached Stalingrad just before Kortifex's rune magic sealed off the city. But my would-be rescuers were trapped with an army of revenants. I realized immediately that there was only one way to help them. Von List had used the Scepter of Kortifex to gain his power. But I still had four other artifacts in a crate. I guided the squad of Allied soldiers closer to my location, careful to skirt areas where I knew there were Die Wahrheit troops. With a rope I lowered the artifact crate down to them. I told them it held munitions that could stop Von List. When they laid hands on the objects inside, I heard them cry out in surprise. I knew that feeling, having briefly bonded with Bellekar myself. I then explained to these soldiers about their new demonic partners. And thus began our desperate alliance. I feel as though these men and women have come to trust me. I only hope when this is over they will forgive me.

Die Wahrheit[]

Von List: Kortifex, I can't stop thinking about that verdammt Tome Page Krafft and his soldiers stole from us. You assured me it was safe -- that nothing could penetrate that Void Spell. How could you let it fall into enemy hands? Now Krafft knows how to stop us.
Kortifex: Knowing something and being abel to do it are two different things, Wolfram.
Von List: You do not sound very concerned. Why is that?
Kortifex: For the same reason you do not concern yourself with insects. Krafft is nothing.
Von List: I might agree, were he not still alive when you said we would crush him weeks ago. Remind me: what exactly am I getting out of this partnership?
Kortifex: I am not your servant. Nor are you mine. We simply have mutual interests. And if Krafft still lives, it is because you have failed to kill him. Now if you wish to end our alliance, I'll take my power to raise the dead and return to my scepter. You can carry on with... your handful of surviving soldiers.
Von List: Nein.... Nein, Kortifex. We still need each other -- as you so bluntly point out.
Kortifex: Then tell me, Wolfram, do you think I wanted them to get that page?
Von List: No, Kortifex. That.... would not make any sense. Would it...?

Von List: This latest conflict at the Shi No Numa site. It all seems to center on your former enforcer. Saraxis the Shadow. What exactly is her connection to you, Kortifex?
Kortifex: What do you mean... "connection"?
Von List: That incident where she was forcibly separated from her host. You were involved, were you not?
Kortifex She grew... tiresome. And I do enjoy crafting a fitting punishment.
Von List: So did you instruct the people here to create that relic? Or did you create it yourself?
Kortifex What does it matter? I saw to it she was entombed in her artifact. That is all.
Von List: You don't like discussing her, I sense there is much more to the story.
Kortifex There always is, Wolfram. But we are not here to tell tales. We are here to make history.

Zaballa: My lord, why are we still wasting time here? Why have we not already seized the Construct? And why do we need this red-blood fool, this mortal... this Von List?
Kortifex: Zaballa, your eagerness to serve me is beginning to sound like impatience.
Zaballa: But.... with all the power you have granted him, he should have exterminated our enemies by now. He is unworthy of our help -- unworthy of you, Lord Kortifex. I don't understand why you--
Kortifex: You run that mouth far too much and you see far too little. How has it escaped your notice that everything is coming together for me? Even Vercanna is here to share her punishment alongside the traitors Norticus and Inviktor. Everything is proceeding exactly as I intend. How dare you even think anything to the contrary?
Zaballa: Lord Kortifex I- I am sorry. Please forgive me.
Kortifex: I don't do forgiveness, Zaballa. Now get back to your duties.

Von List: Oberführer Von List to all Die Wahrheit personnel operating at the Shi No Numa excavation site. To say I am disappointed in your efforts would be an understatement. My orders were explicit, and you have failed to carry them out. Despit round-the-clock efforts, you have yet to find the relic referred to in that ancien document we lost to the enemy. You could have provided me with a weapon to finally stop Professor Krafft's mongrel band of soldiers. You could have been heroes! Instead, we are left with two possibilities. Either that relic is not there, or you are simply incompetent. Either way, you are out of time. We have recommenced operations in the Eastern Desert and all personnel will be needed there. Withdraw from the excavation site. Bring along any important equipment, scuttle the rest. Prove yourselves worthy to wear the Die Wahrheit insignia. Do not let me down.

Von List: This is Oberführer Wolfram Von List to all troops who recently withdrew from the "Shi No Numa" site. Can one of you kindly explain to me... how the hell you left behind the DG-2?! The radio equipment, the Tesla coil, even the traps I can understand. But to leave behind a one-of-the-kind experimental weapon prototype?! That takes a special kind of dummkopf! Obtaining the plans from Projekt Endstation was difficult enough. They consider us rivals -- even laugh at our labors. "The Ghost Chasers", they call us. And now we have to rebuild the weapon from scratch?! Wait... You did bring the blueprints for the wunderwaffe, right? Right?! Because if I am forced to ask Doctor Vogel for another copy, you can expect something worse than a demotion.

Von List: Oberführer Wolfram Von List to all troops of Kampfgruppe Die Wahrheit. Some of you are asking how safe it is to restart the operations in the Eastern Desert. While I prefer unquestioning obedience, in this case I shall try to explain the necessity of continuing our work there. First, the Dark Aether crystals contaminating the area have been tested by specialists from Uranverein. They declared the radioactivity levels to be safe. So perhaps "contamination" is not the best word. In fact, those crystals are a sign that our efforts to establish a crossover point to the Dark Aether are succeeding. And look what that has won us already. Zaballa now adds her strength to our efforts. What other new allies might we find as we expand our bridge to their universe? So, I... I understand that caution is not cowardice. I know how hard it can be to question my orders. But for those who wonder if Kortifex is now in charge of Die Wahrheit, I have no patience. There is only one Oberführer here. Leave Kortifex to me. I... just leave him to me and get back to work.

Dark Aether Entities[]

Norticus: Soldiers of Norticus, you have learned something by now of my career. You know I served Kortifex. You know I oversaw the destruction of the Wilds, Vercanna's homelands. I did so many terrible things to further the ambitions of a master who did not deserve my efforts. But there comes a time when every warrior must look inward for answers to some basic questions. What am I fighting for? Whom do I serve? Can I live with the mark this will leave upon my soul? And when you find you serve something you do not believe in, you are left with a choice you cannot ignore. You must take the reigns of your destiny and do the one thing you swore an oath never to do... You must betray your lord and commander... and learn to live with that oath broken... but your soul intact.

Inviktor: I'll give you this, mortals: you are clever little things. The traps and the weapon we found here are proof of that. But even if you so-called "wonder weapon" can strike down ten enemies at once, there is something you must remember. Weapons do not win battles. Soldiers do. Even the deadliest implements are worthless in the hands of the weak. But in the hands of a trained warrior, the simplest of weapons become tools of victory. Strength and discipline are not enough. You must be clever. You must be crafty. Our enemy is all but mindless. This makes it easy to lead them into that Flogger thing, or through the lightning door. They are cattle. Their bloodlust makes them careless. Use it against them. Just never be like them. Keep your wits about you and you'll always have the upper hand.

Inviktor: Hail, Decimator. When last we marched together, you were an insufferable bootlicker.
Decimator: Inviktor the Destroyer! You have lost none of your charm.
Inviktor: Heh. It pleases me how you have changed. And I do not mean the fact that you are a shield now.

Decimator: Oh, I understand. I have changed. I was humbled and discarded. Eons trapped in this form have put things in perspective. At least I was able to help recover that Tome Page. My little contribution to the war effort.
Inviktor: I expect more will be required of you before this is over. But we know have something we cannot squander
Decimator: Ahh, a chance to finally end the scourge of Kortifex. Believe me I know it. I think of nothing else.
Inviktor: You know that thing you used to do? Decimating your troops for the slightest failure? It was wasteful, but... Deep down, I respected you for it.
Decimator: Do not! I inspired fear. You inspired loyalty. That was a trick I never quite mastered.
Inviktor: Yes. You have changed for the better. And as for loyalty, you now have mine.
Decimator: Then let us finish this fight together.

Bellekar: Vercanna, you are going to such great lengths to help Saraxis regain her memories. And I must say, I don't understand it.
Vercanna: That's a rare admission from you, Bellekar. Aren't you usually the smartest one in the room?
Bellekar: Not in this instance. You already know Saraxis' secrets. Why go through all these complicated steps? Why not just tell her?
Vercanna: There is a world of difference between being told about something and experiencing it for yourself. This way, she recaptures those moments -- owns them. Yes, it is harder, dangerous even. But she must do this for herself, or she will always be the broken thing Kortifex turned her into.
Bellekar: Well... once she does remember, I only hope she doesn't hate you for it.
Vercanna: It is worth the risk. There is no telling what else she might remember. Perhaps some weakness in Kortifex we can exploit, or some ambitions of his yet unfulfilled...

Norticus: Tell me, Destroyer, do you ever miss the Netherwars?
Inviktor: I miss their simplicity. Killing, taking ground, never giving it a second thought. But I was... different back then.
Norticus: So was I. Though our experiences were as far removed from each other as night is from day.
Inviktor: I supposed so. You commanding armies from on high, me down in the thick of it.
Norticus: Now look at us. Both stripped of rank, branded as traitors, fighting someone else's war.
Inviktor: It's always someone else's war. That much I knew from the start. If I cared about anything, it was the soldiers who fought alongside me.
Norticus: And these mortals who now stand at our flanks? Do you find yourself starting to care for them?
Inviktor: They have proved themselves worthy. Fragile and fleeting, though they may be, these humans have heart. They throw themselves into danger, overcoming their fear for a cause far bigger than themselves. I have fought a thousand battles, but I have never seen anything quite like these... "humans".
Norticus: Nor have I, Inviktor. I thought them all pawns. But inside them dwells the courage of kings.

Norticus: Bellekar, we need to discuss Professor Krafft. You seem to understand him better than any of us.
Bellekar: Perhaps because we are both scholars. Is there a problem?
Inviktor: The problem is that he is a scholar, not a warrior. Should he really be leading this effort?
Vercanna: Strange, I never thought of him as leading. More like advising.
Inviktor: Hrrr. He is in over his head.
Saraxis: Hey, if it weren't for him, we'd all still be stuck in our artifacts. Plus, there's a sadness in him that I always find amusing.
Norticus: It is his history with Von List that concerns me. What if his need for vengeance clouds his judgement?
Bellekar: Ask that question of him, Norticus, and you may as well ask it of all of us. We all began this in search of revenge. But I have learned from Krafft that true victory is about those we save, not those we kill. And that is perharps the best reason to let this mortal guide us. Why settle for revenge when you can have redemption?
