Sicily is an island just of the coast of Italy's mainland. Sicily is famous for a battle that took place there in World War 2. In Call of Duty 2: Big Red One, the player fights in Sicily as Pvt. Roland Roger. He also goes there to sabotage a gun battery in Call of Duty: United Offensive as SOE operative Doyle. Battles also took place in Troina, Italy

Most notable of the Call of Duty games is in Big Red One at the beginning of the Italian campaign, you take the role of a gunman of a deployment boat. Upon reaching the beach head you are instructed to run up a hill and take out several Fascist soldiers. Once there you must grab a bazooka and use it to destroy a barbed wire fence.
