The Skorpion EVO is a submachine gun featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Call of Duty: Strike Team, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Mobile and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II[]

"Fully automatic submachine gun. Highest rate of fire in class."
— In-game description.

The Skorpion EVO (originally known as Skorpion EVO III in early footage) appears in Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Call of Duty: Strike Team.

Multiplayer[]

The Skorpion EVO is the last SMG unlocked, at level 46, alongside the SMR.

The Skorpion EVO has the worst damage profile of any bullet-firing primary weapon in multiplayer. At any range short of ten meters, the Skorpion EVO will deal 33 damage per bullet, needing four shots to kill. This is also the extent of the Skorpion EVO's one shot kill range in Hardcore. At ranges between ten and 21.25 meters, the Skorpion EVO will deal 22 damage per bullet, needing five shots to kill. At any range past 21.25 meters, the Skorpion EVO will deal eighteen damage per bullet, needing six shots to kill. The Skorpion EVO does no extra damage on headshots, so it is not advantageous to go for them. The Skorpion EVO has both the worst damage per bullet and the worst range of any bullet-firing primary in multiplayer, combining both poor damage per bullet and poor range. The Skorpion EVO has low penetration power, further limiting the damage potential. Those who prefer hard-hitting weapons may find a general disdain for the Skorpion EVO.

The Skorpion EVO's biggest strength is its rate of fire. The Skorpion EVO fires fully automatically at a rate of 1250 RPM. This is tied with the Chicom CQB for the highest default rate of fire in the game, with the only way to surpass it being through the use of attachments. Unlike the Chicom CQB, the Skorpion EVO can hold down the trigger to maintain this fire rate, whereas the Chicom CQB needs to be manually fired in an optimal timing pattern to maintain 1250 RPM. The Skorpion EVO's rate of fire makes it a very threatening weapon in CQC despite the poor damage.

The Skorpion EVO's accuracy is moderate for an SMG. The iron sights are very clear and easy to use, and the recoil profile is moderate. The Skorpion EVO's recoil values are 50 to the left, 50 to the right, 60 upwards, and 42.5 downwards. The Skorpion EVO has a good centerspeed value of 1600. These recoil values are run of the mill for the SMG category, but the enhanced fire rate will make the Skorpion EVO less accurate. Should the user limit their firing speed through bursting or tap firing, the weapon will feel much more accurate. Like with most other SMGs, there is a minor amount of shot spread when aiming. Also like other SMGs, there is a bit of idle sway and it sways very quickly.

The Skorpion EVO has the typical good handling characteristics one comes to expect from an SMG. The Skorpion EVO allows users to move at 100% of the base movement speed, or strafe at 80% of the base movement speed. The Skorpion EVO allows users to aim down the sights in 200 milliseconds, and the hip-fire spread is tight, making hip-fire very effecive by default. The Skorpion EVO's reload speeds are quick. The Skorpion EVO's reload animation is two seconds long, or 2.5 seconds long on an empty magazine. In either case, the user can Reload Cancel after 1.4 seconds. This reload speed is standard for an SMG, but very good overall.

The Skorpion EVO has a fair magazine capacity of 32 rounds, and a fair starting ammo loadout of 128 rounds. The Skorpion EVO's innate stats tend to make the Skorpion EVO a weapon that chews through its magazines and ammo supply rather quickly, so the usage of Extended Clip or Scavenger is often considerred when building a class around the Skropion EVO.

The Skorpion EVO has the standard assortment of SMG attachments on offer. The optical attachments are very unnecessary on the Skorpion EVO, as it is not an effective enough weapon for ranged combat to warrant using these attachments, and the iron sights are more than clear enough.

The Laser Sight tightens the Skorpion EVO's hip-fire spread by 27.5%, making hip-fire extremely precise and accurate for most of the Skorpion EVO's best ranges. At the ranges where the Skorpion EVO is best used - within its four shot kill range - the Laser Sight will be an especially good pick, even if it reduces the margin for error when hip-firing.

The Suppressor reduces muzzle flash, makes the Skorpion EVO quieter when firing, and prevents the Skorpion EVO from revealing the user on radar when firing, but at the expense of range, which is shortened by thirty percent. The Skorpion EVO's range is already pretty bad and not the main focus on the weapon, plus it has a great fire rate to make up for said lacking range, so the Skorpion EVO doesn't lose much from the range penalty. There is also a 2% centerspeed reduction that should be inconsequential. Conversely, the Long Barrel boosts the four shot kill and five shot kill ranges by sixteen percent. Seeing how little range the Skorpion EVO has, the Long Barrel is not particularly effective on the weapon.

Fast Mag makes the Skorpion EVO reload much faster. The Fast Mag reload allows users to reload cancel in less than one second, making for very swift reloads on the fly. Extended Clip may prolong the reload speed by ten percent, but it also provides an enhanced 42 round magazine capacity and a starting ammo loadout of 168 rounds, providing forty extra rounds total. The enhanced capacity provides increased sustained fire capability and some extra use time for those not using Scavenger. Either attachment proves extremely benefical on the Skorpion EVO due to its monstrous fire rate forcing constant reloads and ammo consumption.

The Foregrip increases the Skorpion EVO's centerspeed from 1600 to 1624. The attachment is purely beneficial on paper, but in practice, an extra 24 centerspeed hardly makes a difference, making the attachment a waste of space.

The Quickdraw Handle gives the Skorpion EVO a blazing fast 100 millisecond aim down sight time, allowing users to very quickly snap onto target. The attachment has no downside and can be of great assistance to more aggressive users that find themselves using the aim down sight function over hip-firing.

FMJ increases the Skorpion EVO's penetration power and damage dealt to scorestreaks. The Skorpion EVO isn't well built for either purpose, so for most, FMJ can be ignored.

The Adjustable Stock increases the Skorpion EVO's strafe speed from 80% to 100%, allowing the user to maintain the default movement speed while aiming. Although this does provide unparalleled movement when aiming down the sight, the default strafe speed of 80% is already quite nimble, so the value of the attachment boils down to how much one values that extra strafe speed.

Select Fire configures the Skorpion EVO to have an alternate fire mode that allows the weapon to fire in three round bursts. There is a slight bit of burst delay, limiting the fire rate within Burst fire to a maximum of 1022 RPM. When firing in burst fire mode, the Skorpion EVO's centerspeed increases to 1700, but this does not carry over to fully automatic fire. Select Fire's centerspeed benefit is not all that necessary and it subtracts from the Skorpion EVO's main strength in its rate of fire.

Rapid Fire increases the Skorpion EVO's rate of fire to a gigantic 1935 RPM, the highest possible rate of fire in the game, but it brings several severe penalties. It confers a 75% range penalty, reducing the four and five shot kill ranges to virtually nothing. The hip-fire spread is made thirty percent larger, making hip-fire less reliable. Finally, the centerspeed is reduced from 1600 to 1360. Between the severe centerspeed decrease and the drastically increased fire rate, recoil will accumulate way too quickly for the centerspeed to be able to adequately react. The attachment makes the Skorpion EVO much less accurate in all situations while also making six shot kills significantly more common. It makes the Skorpion EVO practically unusable at medium range, and even at close range, four shot kills are not consistent. The attachment brings with it way too many penalties to be considered useful, but it proves somewhat popular on the Skorpion EVO just for the sheer fire rate alone.

Overall, the Skorpion EVO is a strictly close quarters weapon. The Skorpion EVO's extreme damage output makes it one of the most consistently great weapons at said ranges in spite of the low bullet damage. However, the Skorpion EVO's effectiveness drops off significantly the further away the target is, even moreso than other SMGs, as its very lacking damage and range will make the Skorpion EVO significantly less competitive. At ranges where the user is not comfortable firing the weapon fully automatically, the Skorpion EVO will put the user at an extreme disadvantage. Those that can keep the Skorpion EVO's limitations in mind will find themselves with a weapon that can keep up with the best of the best in CQC.

The Skorpion EVO is very similar statistically to the Chicom CQB, as both can fire at up to 1250 RPM and they both have some of the worst damage profiles in the SMG category. The Skorpion EVO's main strength is that it can consistently fire at 1250 RPM, whereas the Chicom CQB needs to be fired with good trigger timing to maintain the said fire rate, and the Skorpion EVO provides slightly better reload speeds. Aside from the ease of maintaining 1250 RPM and a minor reload speed bonus, the Chicom CQB statistically beats the Skorpion EVO in most categories, with the Chicom CQB providing superior range, a 10% headshot multiplier that allows for three shot kills up close with just one headshot, a superior overall recoil profile, larger magazines, and a larger starting ammo loadout. Those that are good at maintaining the Chicom CQB's fire rate close to the 1250 RPM maximum will find little use for the Skorpion EVO, as the Chicom provides several bonuses at negligible penalty. However, those who are incapable of firing the Chicom CQB at a good overall fire rate may find the Skorpion EVO to be much more consistent due to its ability to fire at 1250 RPM with little more than just holding down the trigger.

Zombies[]

The Skorpion EVO appears in the Zombies mode for Black Ops II on the map Origins. It can be purchased from the Mystery Box for 950 points. It has a high fire rate, making it a good to shoot in bursts, as it has a high headshot multiplier, killing zombies in 3 bullets to the head and 5-10 bullets to the body until round 30 with Double Tap Root Beer II. When Pack-a-Punched, it becomes the Evolved Death Stalker and obtains a Reflex sight. It also obtains a magazine size of 40. It becomes one of the highest damaging non-wonder weapons in the game, being a 3-4 bullet kill to the head until round 34 with Double Tap Root Beer II. However, it is recommended to use as a backup or emergency weapon only, as even without Double Tap, it drains ammo quickly.

Trivia[]

Call of Duty: Black Ops II[]

  • Before an update, the HUD icon for the Skorpion EVO was used for the M1927 rather than using its own icon in Mob of the Dead.
  • On the side of the weapon, "CT. SKORPION EVO 3 A 1", "MADE IN CZECH REPUBLIC" as well as "REAPER M.M.P." with a picture of Grim Reaper above it can be seen.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III[]

  • In the campaign premiere of Operation 627, the weapon was referred to as the Scorpion Evo 3.
  • The Arcade Rhythm blueprint features a small screen above the trigger, which display the logo of Call of Duty: Ghosts.
  • The inspect animation of the Arcade Rhythm blueprint has the operator booting up Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The inspect animation continues with the game nearly finish booting up, before a message pops up which reads: "Update requires restart", resulting in the operator responding with frustration. This is a joke about how often players have to restart their game after a hotfix is downloaded.
