The Sons of Nerthus are three stone idols that appear in the Call of Duty: WWII Nazi Zombies maps The Darkest Shore and The Tortured Path. They serve as the keys in opening the ancient door to Nerthus' sacrificial chamber. When holding one of the idols, the player can use it in a similar fashion to the Gridiron Ball, albeit weaker.

The Darkest Shore[]

Locations[]

Each idol has their own certain way of being obtained.

  • Idol #1 - The player must use the Flak Cannon closest to the Artillery Bunker and shoot the large rock in front of it, dropping the first idol onto the beach below.
  • Idol #2 - The player must obtain a normal Zombie Spine and place it in the bucket within the storage locker behind the Corpse Gate in the U-Boat Pens. The player must escort the friendly zombie to the beach, where it will go into the water. After a few moments, it will return with the second idol in its hands, putting it on the ground before dropping dead.
  • Idol #3 - The player must obtain the shootable version of the Ripsaw. With the Ripsaw, the player must shoot a total of nine specific rocks hidden on the cliffsides of the map. One of the rocks will drop the player the third and final idol.

Once the player has obtained an idol, they can bring it to the secret room containing the ancient door, which can be accessed by having a Bomber zombie blowing open a hole in a wall between the Beach and Bunker 3 track in the Underground Tunnels. The player can then place the idol in the door, which will accept it. Once all three are in place, the ancient door will open, revealing Nerthus' sacrificial chamber and three Meuchlers worshipping her statue. It is currently unknown what became of the idols following the bombing of Heligoland and the destruction of the Kriegsmarine base within the island.

The Tortured Path[]

A single Son of Nerthus appears during the illusion in the second chapter of The Tortured Path, appearing at the base of Nerthus' statue.
