The Soviet Air Force (Военно-воздушные силы, literally "Military Air Force") was the Soviet Union's main air force during World War II and the Cold War. It was dissolved with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. The Soviet Air Force can be seen in Call of Duty: United Offensive, Call of Duty: World at War, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

Call of Duty: United Offensive[]

Some IL-2's were seen flying over Kharkov, both in Kharkov Outskirts and Kharkov Station.

Call of Duty: World at War[]

The Soviet Air Force can be seen overhead in the Red Army missions "Their Land, Their Blood " and "Blood and Iron". In "Their Land, Their Blood" Soviet Yak-9's can be seen flying overhead, most prominently when the player gets on the back of a T-34 tank towards the end of the mission. Also, at the end of the mission Soviet planes bomb and strafe a column of fleeing German tanks and infantry. Following "Their Land, Their Blood," the Soviet Air Force appears in "Blood & Iron" constantly overhead. When the player reaches near the end of the mission several Yak-9's will strafe German positions with rockets just in front of the train station.

Call of Duty: Black Ops[]

The Soviet Air Force makes a brief appearance in the missions "Executive Order" and "Crash Site". In "Executive Order" several MiG-17s can be seen streaking over the Baikonur Cosmodrome when the player surveys the Cosmodrome for Grigori Weaver. The Soviet Air Force doesn't make any other appearances until the level "Crash Site" when the player investigates the crash of a Soviet Air Force cargo plane ferrying Nova 6.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II[]

The Soviet Air Force appears in mission "Old Wounds", where several MiG-23s can be seen flying over the desert.
