The Steel Dragon is an EDI energy heavy weapon in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

Campaign[]

"Powerful energy beam with auto tracking. (No ammo crate refills)"
— Singleplayer description

The Steel Dragon appears in the campaign as the F-SpAr Torch. It first appears in "Rising Threat", used by Dan "Wolf" Lyall to fend off multiple SDF soldiers and a C12. The weapon utilises F-SpAr (Focused-Spectral Array) technology, which seems to be some kind of particle weapon. Comments by Ethan indicate that the F-SpAr produces radiation when firing, at least on the capital ship variant.

After the player arrives on the UNSA Retribution, it can be equipped as a secondary weapon under an assigned Heavies slot. The Torch is useful for taking out groups of enemies, as well as destroying C12 tanks and C6 drones efficiently.

In the operation Taken Dagger, it can be collected after it is dropped by an C8 before Salter and Reyes escape SDS Galaxius).

Along with the Ballista EM3 and the P-LAW, the Torch is one of the very few weapons in the campaign capable of completely gibbing human enemies.

A large version of the F-SpAr was also equipped on the SDF super-carrier SWSC-1 Olympus Mons. This provided a devastating amount of firepower, able to annihilate other warships with ease. The UNSA was developing their own F-SpAr weaponry on Europa, contracted to the weapons corporation EDI, in order to match the SDF, as the only real counter to F-SpAr weaponry is another F-SpAr.[1] However, the SDF raided the facility and seized the UNSA's technology, preserving their monopoly on the powerful weaponry.

Multiplayer[]

"Heavy beam based weapon with multi-target tracking."
— Description

In multiplayer, the Steel Dragon is the default payload for Merc. It is advised to take it out when facing more than just one player at a time, as its stopping power might not be enough to take out the enemy in time. Instead, it should be advised to take it out on a group of two to four player as its multi-target tracking ability will make use of it's powerful accuracy and overall speed of the beam.

The March 10th, 2017 patch increased the Steel Dragon's sprint out time, reducing the close-range capabilities of the Steel Dragon.[2]

Zombies[]

The Steel Dragon/F-SpAr Torch is obtainable by activating the Dragon Breath Fortune Card. It works almost like the Campaign/Multiplayer variant, except it does not need to be reloaded and has infinite ammo. It deals a high amount of damage per second and can kill several zombies while shooting. It can hit kill zombies until something like Round 20 and works well until Round 30-35. Despite not having infinite damage, it is a reliable weapon for boss fights and early to mid game stages, since it can burst zombies really quick.
