Model 24 Stielhandgranate
From the Call of Duty Wiki
The Model 24 Stielhandgranate or the Stick hand grenade was the German standard hand grenade during World War II.

[edit] History
The Stielhandgranate was first used during the end of World War I by Germany and was used by Nazi Germany during World War II against the Allies along with other types of grenades. The M24 gave the thrower more leverage allowing them to throw it further than a regular round grenade. The M24 was not designed to kill, but to maim enemy soldiers. To maximize damage to soft targets a metal sleeve was put over the head of the grenade to increase the shrapnel. The M24 was succeeded by the M43 grenade in 1942-43, essentially a modernized M24. Due to large stockpiles of the grenade, the M24 saw service until the end of the war. As the war progressed the quality of the German grenades deteriorated, making them a hazard to their own troops as the fuse sometimes burned too fast and exploded before it could be thrown. The Stielhandgranate is an "offensive" grenade, as it relies on blast damage rather than steel fragments to deal damage to enemy soldiers.
The very distinctive appearance led to it being called a "stick grenade", or "Potato Masher" in British Army slang, and is today one of the most easily recognized small arms of the 20th Century.
[edit] Game Info
Stielhandgranates are frequently found in grenade boxes in Call of Duty 1, United Offensive, and 2.

[edit] Trivia
- The Stielhandgranate is absent from the Call of Duty: World At War multiplayer, as with the Panzershreck. (However, in Nazi Zombies you start off with two)
- In Call Of Duty World At War, if all four Steilhandgranates are thrown at once in single player, the skin of one grenade will appear different.
- The skin from COD 2 is the same in Call of Duty: World At War.
- The Stielhandgranate is available from the mystery box but it is extremely rare.
- It's shape is not very aerodynamic and in urban environments would be hard to throw around or into tight spaces and through doors, however; on an open battle field it would be easy to throw over long distances.
