The Strobe Grenade or the IR Beacon is a grenade in Call of Duty: Black Ops II that is found in "Suffer With Me" by opening a gate a locked gate where a dead soldier holds one. It is used to call in gunship strikes on locations that it is thrown. At one point in the same mission, it is accidentally used against Frank Woods and Alex Mason while they were trying to escort Manuel Noriega to a military checkpoint. The airstrike called in by this grenade was powerful enough to decimate the entire building. It looks like the Tactical Insertion of Call of Duty: Black Ops, only with a black color scheme.
- A Create-A-Class picture of it can be found in the game files, but it is not in Call of Duty: Black Ops II's multiplayer, nor is it selectable in the campaign menu.
- A Treyarch emblem can be seen on the Strobe as the player picks it up; this can be seen in the photo above.
